The Aim of the Storytelling:
The story is attractive and enjoyable for young learners.
The story helps to develop pupils’ cultural awareness and create positive attitudes towards learning.
The story increases pupils’ desire to continue learning much more.
The story improves pupils’ vocabulary knowledge and contributes to confidence building.
The story called The Seasons of the Year is authentic and has a universal theme so that the story provides information about real life in the target language.
The dialogues and some repetitions help pupils to understand the story.
The story motivates pupils to develop their imagination and appeals to their sense of humor.
The story also can enrich pupils’ language skills so that both grammar and vocabulary learning are completed.
Procedure
The teacher tells the story and uses the power point presentation. While the teacher tells the story, pupils listen to the teacher and also watch the power point presentation so that pupils can imagine the story easily.

The Activity: Speaking Circle
The Aim of the Activity: Students try to express themselves orally so that their speaking ability improves highly.
The teacher starts talking about the weather condition. Today, the weather is sunny. What is your suggestion about? One student replies that “Let’s go for a walk.” Another student asks his friend “When is winter?” He replies that the weather is cold in winter. Children make a snowman and play snowball etc. Different student describe other seasons. Later, the teacher asks some questions such as “What is the weather like in fall?” “What do you wear in spring?” The students answer all questions and they continue to ask questions one another.

PRACTICE
The Activity: Define the weather
The Aim of the Activity: Revise vocabulary especially adjectives. Students’ description skills are improved. The main focus is fluency rather than language point. While students define the weather, they improve their narration techniques and creativity.
The Material: Cue-cards

1.      Procedure
The teacher groups all students and gives cue cards to students to use them for defining the weather. They can define it by using adjectives, adverbs etc. Moreover, the student can give suggestions about the weather. For instance, according to cue card the weather is snowy and student can suggest “Let’s make a snowman.” In respect of this suggestion, the whole class tries to predict the weather condition. Each group member defines the weather condition based on the cue-card. The rest of the student tries to predict correct answer.

PRODUCE
The Activity: Connect the pictures
The Aim of the Activity: The aim is improving fluency and introducing a theme or a story.
The Material: Pictures


1.      Procedure
The teacher puts the three pictures on the board, and give students five minutes to make up short stories in groups so that they are encouraged to be imaginative which must include the three pictures or words, feedback stories. Students generate different stories and share each other so that their speaking skills develop considerably.

PRESENTATION
Materials: The pictures


Firstly; the teacher shows nine pictures. These are ice-cream, raincoat, scarf, umbrella, hat, sunglasses, swimming, snowman, cloud. She pronounces all of them one by one and wants students to repeat these words.
The Activity: How do you say?
The Aim of the Activity: One of the most important matters is focusing on difficult sounds’ pronunciation. This activity helps students to work in a fun and collaborative way on how to pronounce the words properly
1.       Procedure
The teacher put the students in groups of five or six. Each student has a number according to number of the letters. The teacher spells out a word, e.g. R-A-I-N-C-O-A-T. Each group works together to pronounce it well. The teacher asks one student in each group to say the word. Pick the student number at random, e.g. number five goes first. The student says the word loudly and clearly, but does not shout it. The teacher keeps a score on a piece of paper for each group and each good pronunciation gets a point. A few students pronounce the word and get the whole class to practice the pronunciation a few times. Later, move on to next word, each time the teacher asks the students to say the word for you, appoint to another team member by their number. The teacher can also ask the students to prepare words for each other and play the game in groups.


PRACTICE
The Activity: Sound Bingo
The Aim of Activity: Students try to predict the words by looking at the first letter sound so that they both learn the words and pronounce them correctly. They will be more conscious about pronunciation and develop their predicting skills.
The Material: Pictures ( that are used in presentation part) 
1.      Procedure
The teacher sticks the pictures on the board and writes the beginning letter sounds of words. For example, the teacher writes “u” letter sound near the umbrella picture and wants the students to predict the word as a whole. Later the student who completes the sound letter pronounces the words a few times. For instance another student tries to predict by looking at the letter sound list. There is the picture of swimming and “s” sound is given to students so that students complete letters and match the picture. This activity goes on until it lasts.

PRODUCE
The Activity: Whisper Game
The Aim of the Activity: This activity is a good way to practice pronunciation, and it is really enjoyed by young learners. Students can also improve their listening and speaking skills.

1.      Procedure
The teacher puts the students in groups of four and tells the four different sentences to a student from each group. These sentences are given below.
Group A: The weather was very cloudy yesterday.
Group B: The weather is sunny, let’s have a picnic.
Group C: What is the weather like today?
Group D: It is raining now. Take your umbrella.

All groups try to transmit the sentence correctly what they hear. At the end of the game, the teacher wants the last person to tell the sentence loudly so that they can learn whether it is correct sentence or not. Students have fun by learning and pay attention to follow the sentence.

The teacher presents the words with power point presentation. These words are umbrella, snowman, ice cream, raincoat, cloud, scarf, swimming, hat, sunglasses. The teacher gives the meanings of words. Later, the teacher pronounces these words correctly. The teacher sorts out these words like noun, verb, adjective, adverb etc. Later the teacher wants students to repeat the words correctly.
PRACTICE
The Aim of the Activity:  Students can develop their matching skills and relate the words with new vocabulary.
The Material: Word box, worksheet, pictures



1.      Procedure:
The teacher shows the pictures and repeats the meanings. She also makes short sentences related to objects. Some students choose a piece of paper from box and they try to places the word suitable place in the sentences. Students put the words suitable place and then this cycle goes on in this way until all sentences are completed.
Students learn new words such as scarf, sunglasses, swimming etc. and use these words in a sentence. Moreover they make their own sentences at the end of the lesson. Students learn much more vocabulary permanently thanks to pictures and sentences.

PRODUCE
The Activity: Giving Instructions
The Aim of the Activity: Students improve their schemata thanks to this activity by learning new vocabulary. They foster their creativity by generating different sentences.
The Material: Pictures
1.      Procedure:
There are pictures about weather condition and the paper written the name of the weather conditions. The teacher gives an instruction, focusing on specific vocabulary. For example; show me” rainy day”, and then students find the correct picture among jumbled pictures and stick to the board. The teacher wants the student to make a sentence about “rainy” so that the student can produce own sentence with his or her imagination. They can easily transfer the vocabulary to new sentences. Students complete the activity with different adjectives such as sunny, foggy, cloudy, windy etc.

1) NOTICING
Material: The Seasons Songs , authentic materials (umbrella, hat, scarf etc.), poster about seasons
The teacher brings authentic materials to classroom such as umbrella, sunglasses, hat, scarf, raincoat, etc. and displays these materials. The teacher asks students if there is any guess about the topic that will be taught today. The teacher presents the poster that she prepared before. This poster includes the pictures of four seasons so that the teacher draws attention the seasons. After talking about seasons, the teacher asks some questions such as “What is your favorite season?” “Why do you like this season?” “What can we do in this season?” Later, the teacher shows a video related to four seasons so that the teacher can draw students’ attention. Students watch it eagerly because the video has a colorful visual and enjoyable song. This video includes “What is your favorite season?” expression and some adjectives such as beautiful, yummy and juicy. Children learn many words like adjectives, nouns and verbs. Students hear many sentences as :
“I like tulips in the spring, they are beautiful”
“I like cherries in the summer, they are juicy.”
“I like chestnuts in the fall, they are yummy.”
“I like snow in the winter, it is cold.”
Furthermore they can learn different kind of words such as chestnut, tulip, snow, cherry and ask question each other and give suggestions about seasons. For example;
A: What is your favorite season?
B: My favorite season is summer.
A: Can you give suggestions about your favorite season?
B: Let’s go swimming. Let’s drink cold orange juice.







2) STRUCTURE

Activity: Puppet Game
Materials: Two puppets, role play cards (These cards include many questions “What is your favorite season?” “What is the weather like in your favorite season?” “Please, give suggestions about your favorite season.”)
Aim of the activity: Students make dialogues so that their communicative skills develop easily
Students can use the language efficiently with the help of their creativity, they can generate different sentences.
1.      Procedure
Firstly, the teacher shows the puppet activity how to apply it by using role-play cards. There are two puppets called Jane and John. Then the teacher chooses two students to animate puppet show. One of the student chooses his or her favorite season and the other student asks these questions:
1)What is your favorite season?
2)What is the weather like in your favorite season?
3)What are the your favorite season months?
4)Please, give suggestions about your favorite season. ( For example; Let’s go swimming, let’s make a snowman, let’s drink cold orange juice, etc.)
Students change the roles and go on playing game so their communicative skills improve. They feel relaxed themselves, when they make a mistake they may think that this mistake belongs to puppet not to them. Students are not afraid of making mistakes and learn better in this relaxed atmosphere.

3) PROCEDURALIZATION
Activity: Role-play (Weather conversation)
Aim of the activity: Listening and speaking skills are improved thanks to this activity.
1.      Procedure
Firstly, students listen to the dialogue and then they start to converse each other. Students have a chance to ask certain questions and use lots of adjectives such as windy, cloudy, snowy, rainy, sunny, warm, cool, cold etc.
The teacher chooses two students and gives instructions to them.
For example: These students are from different cities, one student is in İzmir, the other is in Samsun. The teacher wants the students to talk about weather condition. “What is the weather like?”  and “What is your suggestion about current weather condition.?” are focused on this conversation. The one answering the questions ask questions later thus all students will be active during this process.
Each student represents a different city and conversation activity continues in this way. Student’s speaking skills develop as they interact with each other through the process. Asking questions, answering questions and mostly speaking skills develop.
