Aim : students will be able to pronounce the words correctly

Activity 1 : how to pronounce  words

Present part:

The teacher comes to class with a list of words which includes verbs we use with ‘’ can and can’t in general. He pastes this list to the board . The words should be seen by everybody. The teacher should pronounce them correctly and slowly in front of the class. Then for the second time he should focus on the stress  syllable and the students should understand where is the stress syllable.

UNIT :6 PHYSICAL EDUCATION (can and can’t)

Pre- story telling:

The teacher will develop positive manners toward the story before he starts it. He should encourage students  to build up self esteem . He will give some information about the story to them.

Procedure:

The teacher asks whether they know  the names  of the animals in the story. He will tell them the title of the story and ask to guess the content of the story. He will try to find their knowledge about what an animal can do. After he prepares them to listening the story, he can continue to the story-telling stage.

The story telling stage

Activity:  Storytelling, Listening to the story ‘’A WOLF STORY’’

Aim: students will learn how they can use ‘’can and can’t ‘’ in a story. They will hear repetition form of  ‘’can and can’t’’ in the story. The students will get the meanings of some words from the story with the help of pictures and mimics of the teacher. They will realize the correct form of  pronunciation of the words.

Material: pictures of animals which are in the story.

Physical Education( can and can’t)

Aim: teacher tries to get students’ attentions to lesson by acting role plays with a students who is volunteer. They are given a text in which they have role scripts. Teacher use his voice ,tone gestures and mimics during the act

Material: a dramatic diaolgue between salesperson and customer

                A robot toy

Activity 1

 Teacher enters to class  with a robot toy to get students’ attentions to class from the first minute. After he talks daily routine he wants a volunteer from class to act customer. İf there is not a volunteer he should encourage them until he can find one. The teacher act salesperson so as to show students his voice and intonation. After they act,  two volunteer students can act, too.

Aim: the teacher tries to warm up the students and he tries to get their attention to the lesson by using the video. By demonstrating some activities, the teacher creates more enjoyable environment and this encourage the students to participate  actively in the lesson. By visualizing the topic , the teacher improve their level of understand the lesson because they will both listen and see at the same time.

Noticing

Teacher starts lesson with some dialogs about what they can do? The teacher can demonstrate some activities  like using a book as a steering wheel and then he says ‘’I Can Drive a Car’’ or he shows some figures of dance and says ’’I Can Dance’’ so as to calm down the students and he tries to warm up them to begin the lesson .Then a video about pumpkins (link is below) in which the students can see what  a pumpkin can  do or what  it  can’t do, is watched  and the teacher freezes some part of the video and asks the students their predictions about what the pumpkin will say or answer the questions are asked to pumpkins. After they make some warp up activities with the teacher and  watch funny video about ‘’can and can’t’’ they are encouraged to participate in  the lesson.

Aim: the teacher knows that the best way of teaching something to the children is to involve them in an  enjoyable game. This game will encourage them to compete and to get more marks. They see  the structure  with picture and they try to manipulate the language
