Language point: "Game related to Home Sweet Home"

Materials: Power-point Presentation about the parts of home and home objects, and a power-point game. It includes "bedroom, bathroom, hall, study room, and kitchen", and to some extent it includes the preposition: "in".

Aims: The main aims of the teacher are to make the students revise what they have learned before, so the teacher shows a power-point presentation about the parts and objects of home. He/she leads students to guess what they have seen in the presentation. Another aim iof the teacer is to make students practice with an enjoyable game. At first, the teacher will show the presentation. In it, there is a big shoe which resembles a home, and has parts of home. These are shown as five windows of the home and, these changes automatically, at first. Later when students guess which part the bathroom is, the teacher clicks it whether it is right or not.  I mean the teacher tries to stir the pupils up and it is useful to activate students' energy with a kind of game activity.

Materials: Power-point Presentation about the parts of home and home objects, and a song video and its mp3 fotmat (in the song, there are three part of home namely: livingroom, bathroom, and bedroom; I have included "kitchen" to the song, because I'm planning to sing that part to students, and later they will parctice the song).

Aims: The main aims of the teacher are to make the students revise what they have learned before, so the teacher shows a power-point presentation about the parts and objects of home. He/she leads students to guess what they have seen in the presentation. Another aim iof the teacer is to make students practice with a song. I mean the teacher tries to stir the pupils up and it is useful to activate students' energy with a song. Lastly, the teacher not only aims to introduce the subject with song only, but also, aims to use visual aid. ( the video of that song.

NOTICING

LANGUAGE POINT : There is/ There are

AIMS: Teaching basic words about parts of the house and furnitures. Teaching the usage of there is/ there are structure.

PROCEDURE

In noticing part teacher begins with the parts of the house and furniters, in order to prepare a background for there is/there are and prepositions. At the begining teacher asks students about their own house. He asks about the rooms and the furniters they have. After that teacher explains the goals they will reach at the end of the course and starts the course by using the video he has found before. The video shows the parts of the house. After the video teacher divides the clasrrom into four groups. He gives each group an envelope , in which there are little pictures of the furnitures. Then he continues with the powerpoint presentation he has prepared, which has the same pictures of furnitures with the little pictures he distributed at the begining. When teacher changed the picture on the presentation asks the student who has the same picture of the furniture and ask again “Is there a sofa/ TV/ bed… in your house?”  Teacher completes the part by doing the same thing until students understand the usage of there  is/ there are. Teacher tell the students keep the pictures until the end of the course.

 By using the same pictures both in the presentation and envelopes teacher teach the vocabulary of the unit. By asking questions during the presentation, teacher encourages the students to notice there is/ there are. At the and he ask about the misunderstood points and make the needed explanations.

GARGAMEL AND THE SMURF

            Lesson: English / 4th Grade

            Language point: "Storytelling", “there is/there are”, “in, on, under, next to”

            Materials: Power-point Presentation about the smurf, and the smurf theme song.

                Aims: The main aims of the teacher are to make the students revise what they have learned before (I mean that this story includes some grammar points of the unit) with a funny short story and to make these students speak about what they hear in the story, to lead students to think how the smurf live, how they collaborate to live on, how they help each other when they have faced with a difficulty like Gargamel’s desire to kill them, and to teach the students these funny story by making connection with the grammar points they have learned throughout the lesson. (For ex: students will notice how the smurf use their house, garden, kitchen, bed, desk etc…) Another aim of the teacher is to make students think like The Smurf or Gargamel. (For ex: what would they do or how they react if they were that character?) As a last thing, the teacher may lead the students to prepare a role play whatever they like. I think that with all of these, students will improve what they have seen, and the learning and teaching processes will be permanent.

               Presentation: In this part, the teacher shows the video about house objects. While realizing this, he/she makes the students repeat the words they have seen on the video by pausing the video time to time. And later, the teacher writes the words; namely: kitchen, fridge, bathroom, sofa… etc. on board. As a result, students both improve the words they have seen beforehand, and pronounce these words perfectly through exposure.
