1) NOTICING
Materials: puppet, board

Aim of the activity:
  • Students’ attention is drawn and they can be aware of structure of how much and how many.
  • Teaching pronunciation of stationary items
  • Using the words they learnt in their speech
  • To provide pronunciation practice
 Activity 1:
Beginning to the lesson: the teacher enters the classroom with puppet and introduces the puppet with pupils.
Teacher: How many pencils in your pencil box?
Puppet: I have three pencils. What about you?
Teacher: I think it is too many. I only have one.
Puppet asks to the students such questions.
Conversation goes on.


2) STRUCTURING
Materials: puppet

Aim of the activity:
·         Get students to brainstorm a dialogue around a topic
·         Get students to identify key words for dialogue
·         Get students to listen to other students do their dialogue and focus on tense, use of articles, third person ‘s’ usage
·         Get students to help each other ‘notice’ common errors
·         Get students to keep notes on common errors
Activity 2:                    

Students going to throw the puppet each other and throwing one going to ask a "how many?" question.  

Materials: a dialogue, pupils
Aim of the activity:
  • Acting out
  • To check it pupils have understood the topic
  • To make the lesson enjoyable and permanent


3) PROCEDURALIZING

Aim of the activity
  • Students will respond to puppet’s questions, so that teacher can check whether they understand the topic or not.

AIM: THE AIM IS TO MAKE STUDENTS AWARE OF THE NAMES OF THE SCHOOL OBJECTS AND RELEVANT PATTERNS. STUDENTS CAN SEE THE NAMES OF THE SCHOOL STORE ITEMS.

PROCEDURE:

-TEACHER SHOWS THE PRESENTATION

- AFTER THIS SHORT PRESENTATION, TEACHER ASKS TO STUDENTS “DO YOU LIKE STORIES/FAIRYTALES?” AND TEACHER INTRODUCES THE CHARACTERS OF THE STORY WITH PICTURES.

“Hello, have you seen my pen?” 
“He’s very strong.” 
“Let’s go to my first class. This is the ‘How to get dressed and 
undressed in a telephone box’ class.” 
“Try again Peter.” 
“Wow, and I thought maths was difficult.” 
“Quick the next class is starting.” 
“Which class is it?” 
“It’s the ‘How to see through walls’ class.” 
“Okay Rania. How many pens is Brad holding?” 
“Seven?” 
“No.” 
“Three?” 
“No.” 
“I can’t see any pens.” 
“Try these special glasses.” 
How many pens is Brad holding? 
“Well done. That’s correct” 
“This is my favourite class. We learn how to fly in here” 
“It’s lunch time. Let’s eat. 
“You really have a great school. Everything is super!” 
“Not everything is great. Wait until you taste the food.”

 Aim:

IN THIS ACTIVITY, STUDENTS LEARN SOME GRAMMAR POINTS (THIS/Let's).GRAMMAR POINTS ARE REPETITIVE IN THE STORY. THANKS TO THIS, STUDENTS ENJOY WHILE LEARNING AND IT IS EASY FOR THEM TO LEARN IN A REPETITIVE SENTENCES. ALSO STUDENTS LEARN SOME SCHOOL OBJECTS SUCH AS SCHOOL unıform, PEN, BOOK, Headmaster's Offıce

PROCEDURE:

After the video shown. Teacher goıng to SUMMARIZE the story and WHILE TELLING THE STORY, TEACHER PERFORMS THE CHARACTERS.

TEACHER USES SOME REAL MATERIALS SUCH AS SCHOOL BAG, RULER, BOOK ETC.

WHILE TEACHER IS TELLING THE STORY, TEACHER USES THE PICTURES.

MATERIALS:  PICTURES, REAL SCHOOL OBJECTS.

 






POST-STORYTELLING

ACTIVITY 1: ANSWERING COMPREHENSION QUESTIONS

PROCEDURE: TEACHER ASKS STUDENTS SOME COMPREHENSION QUESTIONS. THE TEACHER ASKS THESE KINDS OF QUESTIONS: “WHAT IS THEIR headmaster’S NAME? WHY THEY are GOıng TO SCHOOL? WHAT ıs headmaster lookıng for?”.

AIM: THE AIM IS TO CHECK WHETHER THE STUDENTS UNDERSTAND THE STORY OR NOT. IN ADDITION, IN THIS WAY THEY CAN FOCUS ON THE SPECIFIC POINTS IN THE STORY. IF THEY DO NOT UNDERSTAND SOME POINTS, THEY CAN REINFORCE THEIR KNOWLEDGE BY ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS.

ACTIVITY 2: ROLE-PLAY

MATERIAL: NONE

PROCEDURE:

TEACHER DIVIDES STUDENTS INTO GROUPS OF FIVE.

STUDENTS ARE GIVEN ROLES SUCH AS raına, brad, headmaster, Teacher

TEACHER GIVES A SITUATION. FOR EXAMPLE: WHAT MIGHT BE HAPPENED WHEN THEY graduate from thıs school. OR WHAT MAY BE HAPPEN WHEN THEY START TO THE SCHOOL as a new comer. STUDENTS ACT OUT THE DIALOGUES IN FRONT OF THE CLASS.

AIM: THE AIM IS TO MAKE STUDENTS PRODUCE THE LANGUAGE. IN THIS WAY, THEY CAN FIND A CHANCE TO USE THE LANGUAGE. IN ADDITION, WE CAN DRAW THEIR ATTENTION BY USING DIFFERENT ROLES BY USING THEIR IMAGINATION. THEREFORE THEY CAN CREATE A DIALOGUE AND ACT IT OUT. THIS ACTIVITY WILL BE INTERESTING AND ENJOYABLE FOR THEM.
