5th grade - Unit 11 - Personal Possessions, Professionals and Their Tools - Speaking Acitivites



SPEAKING ACTIVITIES
Subject / Unit: Personal Possessions / Unit 11
Level: 5th graders
The Language Point: Have got – Has got, Possessive Pronouns

PRESENTATION
Activity Name:  Role-Play, The meeting
Time: 25 minutes
Aims: To make students know the names of the professions and their tools, to make them be able to produce something new with their current knowledge of professions and their tools.
Materials: Flash Cards
Procedure:  Teacher brings a bag which has professions in, into class. Voluntarily chosen students get to the board (preferable groups of 5 person), each student picks a card from the bag. They start acting as the characters they pick from the bag. The topic is the meeting that takes places in a café, all these people were friends back then in primary school. Somehow they all got separated and now they got back together to have a chat, tell each other about their lives and they do for living. Each student starts telling the others about their jobs. The rest asks the speaker about his/her job, what s/he does, what kind of tools they use and so on. After each student talk for a minute about their jobs, they put the cards back into bag and pick another card from it again. After they pick cards again, the person shows his/her cards other side which is written the key words about the profession to their friends and they ask questions to him/her about the profession s/he picked. Conversation gets going on for 10 minutes. Each students talk at least for 2 minutes.
