4th Grade Unit 6 Home Sweet Home Song Activities

Unit: 6  Home Sweet Home
Grade : 4th
Language Point: Teaching  vocabulary through a song
                                                           
                                                                    PROCEDURE

Pre-song Activity

Aims:       * Students’s schema will  activate.   
                *Students will  remember the words.
                *Students will  get ready for the song.           
                *The teacher will take the students’ attention.


Materials: Pictures






                 The teacher sticks the pictures on the board and asks the students to say their meanings and pronounce them correctly.

Song

Aims:    * Students will be able to learn the names of the parts of home
*Students will be able to improve the pronunciation of the words
* Students will be able to develop positive attitudes towards the target language.
*Students will enjoy in stress-free class environment.

                The teacher opens the song and asks students to listen carefully. The students listen again and they are asked to write which parts of home they hear and saw the song and which animals they see and what they are doing in the rooms in a piece of paper. If they need the teacher opens the song once more.

After Song

Activity 1: Question- Answer

Aims:    *Students will be able to take notes while listening a song.
            *The teacher will see whether the students can answer the questions or not.

          The teacher asks some questions about the song such as: Which room are there in the song? Which animals are there in these rooms? What are the animals doing in these rooms? The studenets answers all questions.

Activity 2: Writing new lyrics to the song

Aims:   * Students will be able to produce their own song.
            *Students will gain self-confidence by singing a song in front of the class.

             The teacher opens the song again and asks students to choose a part of house and an animal and then write lyrics like in this song. After the students write lyrics in a group they sing it at the board.
