LESSON PLAN

SUBJECT: Classroom Rules

GRADE: 5

MATERIALS: question cards,blackboard,videos, poem

ACQUISITIONS:
1)      Students learn some words about classroom rules.
2)      They will understand the imperatives about classroom rules better.
3)      They will differentiate the rules easily.

 LESSON PROCESS
                                                      NOTICING

UNDER-THE-DESK:

   Aim: To be able to draw students’ interest and make them wonder about the lesson
   Materials: some cards  which will be put under their desks( these cards will include some questions about the classroom rules such as ‘ what can I do when I want to answer the question, teacher?’ and the students will read those ready questions in class only)
   Procedure: Before the students arrive, the teacher puts some question cards under each student's desk. A numbered question is written on each card. When it's time to talk about class rules and procedures, the teacher asks students to check under their desks. The students find the index cards, and the teacher calls on the student who found the question with the number 1 on it. The student reads aloud the question. For example: "Mrs. S, when can I sharpen my pencil?" The teacher excitedly replies, "Oh, John, what a wise question!" or "Oh, Tricia, I'm so glad you thought to ask that question!" Then the teacher shares the procedure, rule, or information prompted by the question. She can do it by showing videos about it which she prepared before by herself or by finding from the internet. Then the students can easily understand the answer of their questions by helping of those videos and the teacher. Then it continues around the room until all the questions have been asked and answered in that way.

                                                         

                                                  RESTRUCTURING
SOLVE THE EQUATION.

Aim: To be able to get the students to change the form for expressing the meaning
Materials: board, boardmarker. Students and teacher must  write the words and their first letters which are about the classroom rules by using these materials.
Procedure:  The teacher writes on the chalkboard r - r = r and r + r = r and then asks students to what they think the equations mean. She tells students that they have something to do with the rules of the classroom and arranges students into small groups, and asks each group to think of a list of words that begin with the letter r that might relate to classroom rules. Then students use their list of words to come up with expressions that might fit the formula.
For example:respect + rewards = rules or rules - respect = rebellion. Other possible r words might include the following: regulation, relationships, reflect, routine, resolution, regard, read, react, ratify, reason(ing), reckless, and recommend. That means the students will use these words and keeps on the activity like in the example.
                                  
                                     PROCEDURALIZING

RHYMES FOR REMEMBERING RULES

Aims:To be able to provide students awareness about their learning and get them to practice and use the forms for expressing meanings.
Materials:Some poems about the classroom rules. We can find these poems from the internet, from the poem books or we can create our own poems about the classroom rules.
Procedure: Poems are a great tool for helping youngsters remember rules. So, teacher will bring some poems in class and want students to use these poems with the aim of learning classroom rules in a different and poetic way. For example: try  this example poem  which is below.

My Promise

Each day I'll do my best,
And I won't do any less.
My work will always please me,
And I won't accept a mess.
I'll colour very carefully,
My writing will be neat.
And I simply won't be happy
'Til my papers are complete.
I'll always do my homework,
And I'll try on evey test.
And I won't forget my promise --
To do my very best!
