Language point: Students learn to speak about the
descriptions of pets and their names (hamster, fish, rabbit, dog, cat, parrot,
and bird)
Aims:

Students
become willing to talk about pets thanks to the enjoyable song and power point
presentation.

Students
learn to share their knowledge with each other; they learn to work
collaboratively through the questionnaires.
·
Students
learn to share their knowledge with each other in an enjoyable way and they try
to communicate with each other.
Materials: A song http://supersimplel e arning.com/songs/themes-series/animals/i-have-a-pet/ Power Point. Colorful pages on which there are
some questions related to pets’ descriptions.

PRESENTATION PART
PROCEDURE
Look, listen and repeat;
Teacher comes to class with a song and a
power point presentation that is related to the topic of pets (cat, dog,
hamster, fish and so on) Teacher first wants them listen to the song of “Do you
have a pet?” and try to understand the song carefully. After they have listened to the song two
times, the teacher shows the presentation that includes the pets’ names and
he/she begins to tell the names of pets one by one. At first, he/she shows the
pictures and says the names and later students listen to their teacher and
begin to repeat after him/her.

PRACTICE PART
PROCEDURE
A-Questionnaires
In this part teacher has some
questionnaires for his/her students. The teacher takes his/her questionnaires
that have been prepared before and delivers them to each student. After each
student has taken one page of questionnaire, teacher wants them to stand up,
walk in the class, and find different students to ask their questions. The
questionnaires have some questions like; what is your friend’s name? Has he/she
has got a pet? If the answer is yes,
describe the pet.” Students walk in the class and ask their questions to their
different friends. After a while everybody sit downs again and teacher takes
one student to the board. The student tries to talk about his/her answers and
later teacher gives a little ball to him/her to throw one of the student in the
classroom. The student throws the ball someone and later that student comes to
board to talk about his/her answers. This activity goes on like this until lots
of students have participated to the lesson.
B-Drawing a picture
In this part students have an enjoyable activity called as drawing.
Before beginning this activity, teacher wants them to choose one of their
friends by looking at their questionnaires. The students choose one of their
friends, imagine their favorite pet and draw its picture. The teacher gives
them a few minutes and in that time students prepare their drawings. After
students have finished the drawing their pictures, teacher takes students one
by one to the board to show their pictures and describe them carefully. All the
students are taken to the board and wanted them to describe their pictures that
belong to one of their friends’ pet. This activity goes on like this and
students come to board one by one.
