classroom, s/he talks about some certain classroom rules shortly and s/he
sticks up cards which are written on classroom rules such as ‘don’t sleep,
don’t run, listen to the teacher etc.’ by pronuncing the action verbs with
stress correctly. And after this short entrance, s/he has two activities for
teaching pronunciation and the s/he starts to practice these activities:
ACTIVITY 1: Role-Play
AIM OF ACTIVITY: by playing a teacher role, to teach the correct
pronunciation of actions to all class
To create an enjoyful and interesting game for young learners
PROCEDURE: one of the students who wants to be volunteer becomes a
teacher and the other ones will be his/her students. The students are so naughty that they don’t obey the rules until the teacher says
the suitable rule with correct pronunciation. For example; all students sleep during the lesson and the
teacher warns them with a rule. If the teacher doesn’t say the rule in correct
pronunciation, the others go on sleeping. When the teacher says the correct
rule, the students start to obey the rule. So all students can learn the
correct pronunciation and suitable rules easily.
ACTIVITY 2: Sounds Puzzle
AIM OF ACTIVITY: to get the
logical parts of students’ brain working during pronunciation practice by
hiding the sounds that make up a word that is the answer to the puzzle.
to teach the correct form of written vocabularies by using the letters
MATERIALS: small cards
including sounds/letters, sticks
PROCEDURE: Students find the
sounds mixed up on the board. And then they gets them together in logically.
That’s they make up a logical action verb. After that, they fill in the blanks
with the verbs made up on the board. For example; l,e,s,e,p the sentence: ‘don’t
_____ during the lesson’. At first the students make up sounds in correct order
and then fill in the blanks with suitable action verbs.
