Grade: 4th
Unit7: Pets
Textbook: Primary School English Student’s Book
Language Point: introducing new vocabulary about pets
Materials: slideshow, flashcards, colorful papers and pencils




PRESENT
·                                  Watch and find game
Materials: slideshow and flashcards
Aim of the activity: Learners are encouraged and motivated thanks to slideshow and, according to flashcards their attention is drawn. Pets are also introduced briefly.
Stages:
Ø  The teacher prepares a slideshow about “Pets” and learners watch slideshow carefully.
Ø  The teacher also pronounces  the names of pets and introduces them.
Ø  The teacher uses their gestures and body language while introducing the pets  to atract learners.
Ø  The teacher sticks some colorful flashcards including different animals’ pictures on the board.Some of them are unrelated to slideshow.
Ø  The teacher want them to find pets they see at the slideshow.
Ø  After predictions, learners watch slideshow again and unrelated animals’ pictures are removed from the board.
Ø  The teacher writes name of pets under the pictures and asks learners to repeat the name of the pets.


PRACTICE

Materials: flashcards
Aim of the activity: Learners involving learning process make strong memory connections by learning words in this way.
Stages
Ø  The teacher asks learners to look pictures carefully and then teacher wants them to close their eyes.
Ø  The teacher removes a flashcard including a pet picture from the board.
Ø  Learners open their eyes and teacher asks them to find missing pet.
Ø  Learners guess to find missing pet and end of the game teacher tells missing pet.
Ø  The game can also be played as a team.

PRODUCE
·         Preparing a poster
Materials: colorful papers and pencils
Aim of the activity: Learners are encouraged to create new things by using new words. They improve their social skills and interact with their friends.
Stages:
Ø  Learners become pairs.
Ø  The teacher explains the activity and hand out papers and pencils.
Ø  Learners choose an ordinary pet they have learned and draw its pictures.Then they write its features briefly such as its color, its appearance etc. Moreover, learners can also create a new pet they imagine and draw its picture. Then they introduce it by writing short sentences about it. In addition , learners give names their pets.
Ø  Learners paste their posters on the board and talk about their pets one by one.
