Activity 1: Bingo
Aim: This
activity can be used at different parts of the lesson. It can be a free-time
activity or warm-up activity. It is a good game for teaching vocabulary and
have got/ has got. It aims to motivate students to learn because it makes
learning environment more interesting and enjoyable. It also makes learning
more effective as learning with such an activity makes learning more permanent.
It is a competitive activity.
Materials:
grids, vocabulary box
Procedure:
*Teacher gives grids to each
child
*Each grid should have 3
pictures of school subjects
*Teacher should choose one
card from the box and tell which lesson it is.
*The student who has that
word will say “I have got….” and cover its place with a piece of paper (for example, teacher picks up the word “science”.
The student who has “science” says “I have got Science” and cover its place
with a piece of paper.)
*The one who covers all
spaces in his/her grid will win the game
*Game continues like this.
Activity 2: Lesson basket
Aim: This activity is the
adopted version of “fruit basket.” This activity aims to help students learn the target vocabularies in an
enjoyable way. It requires students’ active participation. It can be done as a
warm-up activity.
Materials: no material is needed.
Procedure:
*Teacher wants students to make circle.
*S/he chooses four of school subjects such History, Maths, Science and English.
*The teacher
distributes these school
subjects to the students.
*When teacher says English, students who are English change their places.
*When the teacher says Maths, the students who are Maths change their places.
*When the teacher says lesson basket, all students change places. However,
they cannot stay at their own places.
