Aims: With this
activity, teacher aims to present the adjectives (open, shut, loud, quiet,
light, dark, easy, difficult, new, old, light, heavy) by using pictures and a
song. After this activity students will be able to describe physical appearance
by using the adjectives (open, shut, loud, quiet, light, dark, easy, difficult,
new, old, light and heavy).
Materials:
Pictures, a video, puzzles.

PRESENTATION
Activity Name: Finding the adjectives in the puzzle
and coloring the adjectives
Aim of the Activity: Students enjoy constructive play and games. The students are encouraged to participate and also shy students can be motivated to speak via games. Games help to make learning more memorable and accessible by using many approaches such as the use of color and patterns.
Produce (How to do it):
Ask the class to listen to the sentences which you will say. Say the sentences which include the adjectives(open, shut, loud, quiet, light, dark, easy, difficult, new, old, light, heavy) and then write the sentences on the board. You give time to the students to find the adjectives in the sentences. Then, ask the students to come to the board and to find the adjectives in the sentences. If they can not find, you can help them find the adjectives. When they find the adjectives, ask them to color the adjectives. Therefore, the students can learn the adjectives easily. The sentences:
Door is open, but window is shut.
Bedroom is dark, but garage is light.
Ayşe is loud, but Ali is quiet.
This question is difficult, but the answer is easy.
Elephant is heavy, but mouse is light.
My shoes are new, but Ali’s shoes are old.

Aim of the Activity: Games make the class more enjoyable. Also, games make students have fun while learning the language. Games are cooperative, where teams or groups work together to achieve a common goal, such as solving a puzzle.

Produce (How to do it):
Firstly, divide the class into
pairs. Distribute the copies of the puzzle to the students. The puzzle includes
the adjectives but the adjectives are secret. Ask the students to find these
adjectives in the puzzle and then to cross the adjectives out. You give time to
the pairs to finish the puzzle. When they finish, ask the pair that find the
adjectives in the puzzle first to come to the board and to show the class where
the adjectives in the puzzle are.
PRODUCE

Aim of the Activity: Games help create a fun atmosphere and reduces the distance between teacher and pupils. Also, games establish natural and enjoyable atmosphere in the classroom. Games are competitive, with teams or groups working towards being the “winner”. Games change the pace of a lesson and help to keep pupil’s motivation. Also, games make the topic more attractive.

Divide the class into groups.
Distribute the copies of the crossword paper and the colorful letters of the
adjectives in the crossword to the students. Ask the students in the groups to
create the adjectives by combining the letters. After they finish, ask the
group that finish the game first to show the adjectives that they create. Also,
they can write the adjectives on the board. Therefore, other groups can see the
adjectives that are in crossword game.
