4th Grade Unit 7 Pets Games

Language Point:  Names and features of pets (cat, dog, rabbit, parrot, tail, long ears etc.)

 Activity 1: Picture Dictation

Materials: papers and colorful pencils.

The Aim of the Activity:
·         To motivate learners to participate in activity.
·        To encourage learners to become active in learning process.
·         To provide learners to become creative learners.
·         To develop social interaction among learners.

Stages:
·         The teacher asks learners to become four or five groups and hand s out materials.

·         The teacher explains activity clearly. He/she describes five or six pets one by one. For example, he/she tells “It has long ears, it is white and it has got a short tail. Please draw this pet.” It is expected that each group try to draw correct pet.
·         After all pets are described by teacher, each group shares their drawings with each other and a group draw all pets correctly become winner.


Activity 2: Pets in the Basket

Materials: -

The aim of the activity: 
·         To motivate learners to participate in the activity.
·         To provide social interaction among learners.
·         To practice language usage and vocabulary
·         To provide enjoyable learning environment.

Stages:
·         The teacher asks learners to become circle and a volunteer learner become “It”.
·         Learners stand on certain points on the floor. The points are drawn by teacher. Then, the teacher gives each learner one pet’s name. 
·         The teacher says ‘Cat’; students who are cat change their places. “It” tries to find a place for himself/herself in the circle. If a learner doesn't find a place, she/he becomes new “It”. If teacher says “All pets in the basket”, all learners change their places.
·         The game continues like that.
