SPEAKING PART

UNIT: CITIES

GRADE: 5

SKILL: SPEAKING

 Activity 1: Making small dialogues

Aims:
·         To be able to work in pairs
·          To be able to give directions
·         To use ‘How do I get to…?’
·         To use ‘turn right, turn left and go straight ahead’

Procedure:Teacher sticks three direction signals; ‘turn right, turn left and go straight on’ on the board ask them what it is and then wants students make a group. Firstly, teacher makes a dialogue using these signals in class. For instance, teacher says: ‘I am in front of the table and how do I get to corner? And students say by using signals: ‘Turn right and go straight on’ after that, students come to the board in pairs and teacher says:’ you are next to wall and you come to the board’
A: How do I get to the board?
B: Turn left and go straight on.

Activity 2: Maze game

            Aims:
·         To be able to speak fluently while giving directions
·         To be able to think analytically while finding the way
·         To be able to use vocabularies correctly

Procedure:  Teacher sticks a maze on the board which is like a map. On the maze, there are mouse, rabbit and chipmunk which are trying to find their feed; cheese, carrot and nut. Their feeds are somewhere on the maze, for example carrot is next to cinema. So, teacher wants students to direct mouse, rabbit and chipmunk to find their feed. For example, students come to board in pairs and
A: I am a mouse and how do I get to my cheese?
B:  go straight on, turn left again go straight on, turn rigth and it is on the corner.
