5th Grade Unit 9 Farm Life Grammar Activities

LESSON PLAN                                                                                                                       
LEVEL:5th Grade
SUBJECT: Farm Life (grammar point : like & dislike )

PROCEDURE:

Beginning the lesson: The teacher starts the lesson with the song ‘’ I like chicken ‘’. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtLwSMivm2s  This song includes the usage of like &dislike grammar patterns.

Noticing:

Objectives: To make students able to notice new language input
                     To focus students ‘attention on the language forms
                     To make them become aware of the structure and meaning
         To prepare them for the lesson
                     To activate their schemata

Procedure: 
This video includes like& dislike patterns:
I like chicken
I like fish
I like ice cream
I don’t like juice

Structuring:

Activity 1:
Objectives:
To be able to involve students in manipulating forms and meaning in controlled practice
     Materials: classroom board, boardmarker
Procedure: The teacher draws a figure shaped in two parts ; in one part likes , in the other part dislikes. She extends the examples of I like chicken , I don’t like juice ; the teacher tries to give as much example as possible. ( I like animals; I don’t like animals, She likes animals ;  She doesn’t like animals , They like apple ; They don’t like apple… )

Proceduralizing:

Activity 1 : ‘About Me Book ‘
Objectives :
-to involve students in fluent language use and communication
-to make them able to formulate their own meanings in contexts

Materials: students’ notebooks

Procedure: The teacher tells them to write three like; three dislike sentences about themselves  on their notebooks and read them to their friends.

Activity 2 : ‘Pupil Produced Worksheet‘
Materials: Students ‘notebooks , classroom board

Objectives :
-to involve students in fluent language use and communication
-to make them able to formulate their own meanings in contexts

Procedure: The teacher draws a figure on the board and tells students to write it on their notebooks. She wants them to take note on this figure after listening and talking with their friends. If they and their friends like apple for example ; they put thick on the figure ; if they or their friends don’t like salami ; they put cross.
