SPEAKING LESSON PLAN
5th grade
Unit:7 LIKE-DISLIKE, FOODS
Language points: Vocabularies of foods, using like and dislike as a chunk in a sentence, speaking about which food they like or dislike
NOTICING
Activity: Powerpoint presentation, video, repetition
Materials: Computer, projector
Aim: The aim of this activity is to teach the vocabularies of foods and the chunk of "what do you like or dislike and which food do you like or dislike?", "I like or dislike pizza etc...", and to make them aware of it.
Procedure: The
teacher uses powerpoint presentation to teach the vocabularies of foods, he
pronounces and the students repeat the teacher by seeing the pictures of foods.
Then the teacher shows a video about like and dislike. The students learn the
usage of vocabularies in the chunk of like and dislike. The students repeat
them by watching the video. The teacher may ask some of the students randomly
to get the idea that they understand.

STRUCTURING
Activity: Flower
clock which consists of foods instead of numbers
Materials: A
carton which is in the shape of flower, pictures of foods, board, board marker
Aim: The
aim of this activity to make them use these vocabularies and chunks. They will
produce sentences in this chunk.
Procedure: On
the flower clock, there are the pictures of foods and some of names. There are
also an hour and minute hand on which there are a smiling face and sad face. Smiling
face is the hour hand, sad face is the minute hand. The students will change
the place of the hour hand and minute hand and produce their sentences. If the
smiling face is showing Ali and salad, and the sad face is showing Bob and
hamburger, the students will say “Ali likes salad, Bob dislikes hamburger. ”The
teacher may ask the students by changing them. For example; What does Ali like?
Which food does Bob dislike?, and the students answer them. They will do it in
sequence, they will learn and amuse.
PROCEDURALISING
Activity: Group
work
Materials: Each
students has a pair.
Aim: The
aim of this activity is to use these in terms of their experiences. They will
produce their own sentences. They will communicate with their group members
about which food they like or dislike.
Procedure: The
students will be divided into the groups which consist of two or three. They will ask each other “which food do you like”
and they will answer in sequence. Finally, they will show their performance in
front of the class.
