PART II Activities
Noticing Activity:
Objectives:
- To introduce the subject with the students effectively and interestingly
- To show students the aimed structures in a hidden form (video/song)
- To attract the students' attention, to motivate them
- To take their attention into “can can’t” grammar pattern in a fun way
- To make them remind the names of animals and what they do with “can” structure

The
procedure of the lesson:
- The teacher comes to the class and asks some questions to the students for warm-up like “can you please open your books?” etc.
- The teacher makes them heard about they are watching a very enjoyable video and adds that if they want, they can sing the song then he shows the video.
- After watching video, the teacher presents the power point presentation and highlights the grammar patterns “can or can’t, can …?” with a good intonation stress and extra information if it is needed.
- The teacher asks questions like in the presentation to make the grammar patterns permanent
Structuring Activity
Objectives:
- To make the students use the language and grammar they have learned.
- To make them active in the lesson activities.
- To make the students practice listening, writing, speaking
The materials:
- Two worksheets(The first one is about “can or can’t”. They are filling in the blanks and matching. The second is an activity requiring pair work. They make questions and answer the questions.)
The
procedure of the lesson:
- The teacher distributes the worksheets to the students
- The teacher gives time to work on it, while they are studying in pairs, the teacher helps and observe them
- After they are finishing, they start to answer the questions in the worksheets
- In the second activity, students are required to work in a pair and they are given the activity including a shop list and shops
- Students are supposed to make sentences what they can buy and what they can’t buy according to existing shops; one student makes questions and the other answers.
Proceduralising Activity
· Objectives:
- To make the students use four skills with the target structure
- To see whether they have learned “can, can’t” in a positive negative and question sentence
- To make them participate actively in learning process
- To make fun
Materials ;
- the papers on which numbers from 1 one 7 and words “start” and “finish” are written.
Procedure
of the lesson
- The teacher wants students to make questions about “can”
- He prepares the setting of the games, he puts firstly the paper “start” and then puts the numbers from 1 to 10 in the order and finally puts the paper “finish”
- Firstly, the teacher models and shows how to play then students play
- A student is chosen and the student stands starting point firstly
- The class starts to ask questions, one asks question and the student tries to answer this if he can answer, moves to the other number. Another student from class asks a question, if he knows, moves the other number and he tries to reach “finish” paper and complete the game.
- The activity goes on in this way.
