Noticing
Aims :
- Getting attention to am is are structure
- Learning how to introduce
themselves and their friends
- Meeting with new people and
introducing them to other friends
Materials:
- A short film about countries (people from different countries say their names and where are they from) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9PsgBhtsnE)
- Presentation
- Role play cards
Procedure:
- Teacher enters the classroom and
greet the students
- He gives the intructions to the
students ‘’ Now we will watch short film and listen it carefully . You will act
like them at the end of the film(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9PsgBhtsnE).’’
- Then, all together watch the film
(where are u from ? what is your name ? is dictating in the film mostly. )
- The teacher says the students ‘
now you will work in pair. After that, the students start to talk each other.
- The teacher chooses two students.
They meet with each other. (They ask what is your name?, how are you? how old
are you? where are you from?)
Structuring
Aims :
- Helping the students understanding
the structure of am ,is, are.
- Learning new countries and what is
famous there
- Giving the grammar points
indirectly
- Learning grammar points with fun
Materials:
Country Flags Cards
(You find countries
flag on the internet and paste them on a paper (8 flags for one paper). When
you print it, you cut it with scissor flag by flag. Then, you can write
students name and age and what is famous in there?),
some pictures about
countries and a story about a boy (a presentation).

- Statue of Liberty Picture
- Football Picture
- Kangoroo and Koala Pictures
You do powerpoint
presentation in classroom.
For first page, paste funny Picture for fun.
For second page,
paste World map and draw a line from Turkey to France
For third page,
paste Aiffel Tower’s Picture.
For forth page,
paste World map and draw a line from France to England
For fifth page,
paste World map and draw a line from England to U.S.A.
For sixth page,
paste Statue of Liberty Picture
For seventh page,
paste World map and draw a line from U.S.A. to Brazil
For ninth page,
paste World map and draw a line from Brazil to Australia.
For last page,
paste kangoroo and koala pictures
Procedures:
- Teacher gives the instructions
first.
- Teacher needs 6 students for this
activity.
- Teachers choose volunteers and
give their cards which include their roles.
- The main character’s name is Ömer
and there are five different people from diffrent countries. Who’s names are
read, he/she meets with Ömer according to their cards which one side has a
country flag , other side has name , age and famous place or things.
- The students expect from Ömer stand
different places in the classroom and Ömer will come next them one by one.
- Teacher starts to read the story aloud. And he uses the presentation to show
the students Ömer’s destination.
- Ömer always want to go Australia
and see kangoroos and koalas.
- He introduces himself to the other
students.
- After that, he starts his journey
like in the story.
- First he goes to France(the
student ,whose role is Ömer, goes to the student whose name is Natalie) and
meet with Natelie. He introduce himself to her and talk with her.
- Later he goes to England (the student goes to another students
whose name is Daniel) and meet with Daniel. They talk about each other. Then,
they go to U.S.A. together.
- They meet with George. (First
Daniel meets with him and introduces Ömer to him).
- Then, Ömer leaves them in U.S.A.
and goes to Brazil.
- He meets with Paula and ask about
‘what is famous in Brazil? ‘ . Paula answer this question.
- At the end of the story , Ömer
goes to Australia and meet with Ann.
- Ann show kangoroos and koalas and
said Ömer ‘we are famous with our kangoroos and koalas ‘.
- Finally he sees the animals.
Proceduralization
Aims:
- Making the students fluent while
meeting with someone
- Making them ready to use basic
expressions
- Practicing meeting in daily life
- Making a small dialogue with other
people
Material: There is no material
in this part
Procedure:
- At the end of the lesson, teacher
gives the students homework
- They introduce themselves ten
other people who dont know before.
- They note about their informations
- Next course they show them to the
teacher.
