LANGUAGE POINT:  Improving Speaking Skills

AIMS:  Teacher aims to encourage the students to talk about house and furniture as well as their own rooms efficiently, moreover the teacher expects from students to use phrases and words in communicative context.

MATERIALS:  PowerPoint presentation and videos (a song and an example of describing one’s own room).

            In order to prepare the students for the activities he will apply, the teacher starts with the video which shows a boy describing his own room. Then the teacher shows a presentation which includes various parts of a house. In each picture the teacher asks the students to examine the pictures carefully. At first the teacher asks the volunteers and the others to describe what they have seen in the picture, with details. After enough practice, the teacher moves to another activity in which students, in groups, will participate in activity by asking questions about their rooms to each other. Thanks to this, the teacher provides enough practice for the students, so the learning process will be permanent and enjoyable. As a last thing to do, the teacher shows an amusing song to entertain students.
