4th Grade Unit 6 Home Sweet Home Pronunciation Activities

Pronunciation Teaching

Grade: 4

Unit: 6- Home Sweet Home

Vocabularies:  living room, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, bed, wardrobe,  sofa, television, cupboard, refigrator,cooker,  table, coffe-table,toilet,tap,bathtub

Objectives :
-students will be able to say the homeware in the house in English.
-students will be able to pronounce the words correctly.

Presentation

Activity : Showing  Vocabulary Cards

Materials:  pictures of the homeware.





First of all,  the teacher shows the pictures to the students and wants them to say their meaning. Then the teacher says each words’ correct pronunciation and asks students to repeat after him or her together. After that the teacher chooses a picture and  a student randomly and asks him or her to say the word with correct pronunciation. If it is wrong the teacher turns the class and asks the correct form.

Practice:

 Activity 2:   A Competition

Materials:  powerpoint presentation,three toys ,a  candy box,


powerpoint presentation: 
The teacher  opens the powerpoint presentation. Each slide has a picture and there is the name of homeware in mixed order. Then he or she divides the class in three groups and gives a toy to each group. All students of each group tries to find that word and pronounce it correctly. The one who squeezes the toy first,  says the word and if it s true, this group takes ten point. Each student do that in turn. At the end of the competition, the teacher calculates the scores and gives a candy box to the winners.

Activity: Writing a poem or a story 

Objectives:
-Students will be able to create something on thier own.
-Students will be able to pronounce  the words correctly.
          
          The teacher asks students to work in groups of four and write their own story or  poem. The students can decide which one they write. Then they share their product with thw whole class.
