4th Grade Unit 2 My Classroom Pronunciation Activities

Grade:4th

Pronunciation focuses: pencil, book, rubber/eraser, ruler, dictionary... etc.

Aim:To teach pronouncing the words in a correct way

PRESENTING

Words: pencil, book, rubber/eraser, ruler, dictionary, notebook, school bag, notebook, pencil case, sharpener, door, table, board

 Activity: Watching a video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoPNVqngZXc )

            Students listen to a song about classroom objects. The song has rhymes to pronounce objects correctly. First students watch the video and then in second watching, they try to sing the song by skipping unknown words. Then teacher shows a slide show about objects and says their pronunciation to students and wants them to repeat after her.

Aim:    In this part students learn the pronunciation of words through video and slide show. They first listen to the song with the rhythm and then learn how to pronounce the words by repeating after teacher thanks to slide show.

PRACTISING

Words: pencil, book, rubber/eraser, ruler, dictionary, notebook, school bag, notebook, pencil case, sharpener, door, table, board.

Activity: recreating the song

        Students add new words to the song that they listen at the beginning of the course. They work in groups to create the song and they give importance to the pronunciation of words.

      Aim: This activity helps students to work in a fun and collaborative way on how to pronounce the words they are learning. They add new words and omit some unknown words of the song that they listen at the beginning of the course. When they finish, they sing the song with new words.
