Unit 8 My Weekly Schedule
Grammar point: have got/has got, prepositions
Pre-storytelling
Activities:
1) Predicting the content of the story from its cover
Materials: Poster of the story, flashcards


Aim: In this part aim is to prepare students for the story. Students will see some vocabularies and structures that take place in the story. In prediction part they will present their predictions about the content of the story. Teacher will ask questions about the story and the characters in this story. So, their attention will be attracted. In matching part, they will be asked to match the pictures of vocabularies with their written form. So, students will see necessary vocabularies and language point
Procedure:
1)Students will be shown the poster of the story
2)Students will be expected to predict the content of the story by looking at its cover.
3)Students will be asked questions about the story. ( Who is this character? Do you know her? Do you like her?)
4) Teacher introduces the vocabularies by using the flashcards.
5)   Some sentences about the school subjects will be written on the board. However, school subjects will be shown with pictures. Next to the sentences, flashcards which have the written form of school subjects will be sticked.
6)Students will match the words with the related sentence by looking at the pictures in the sentence


While-storytelling

THE LITTLE MERMAID
Once upon a time there is a little girl. Her name is Little Mermaid. She lives under the sea. She has got a lot of toys. Her mother and father love her very much.  Her friends love her. They want to play with her. But, she has got a problem. She is unhappy. 
One day, her father asks her “What is your problem? Why are you unhappy?”
She says “ I want to go to school.”
Her father and says “ Don’t worry. You will go to school soon.”
After a while, Little Mermaid starts school. She goes to school every day. She has got Science, Art and Music on Monday. She has got Turkish and a Maths on Tuesday. She has got Computer , Chess and Maths on Wednesday. She has not got any history lessons on Thursday. She has got Pyhsical Education on Friday. Her favorite lesson is Music, because she likes listening to music, dancing and singing.
Little Mermaid is happy now. She goes to school every day. She has got Computer , Chess and Maths on Wednesday. She has not got any history lessons on Thursday. She has got Pyhsical Education on Friday. Her favorite lesson is Music, because she likes listening to music, dancing and singing. 

Activities:
1)Telling the story
2)Asking questions while telling the story
Materials: PowerPoint presentation (picture-based), PowerPointpresentation (picture and script based)
Aim: In this part aim is to present the target language points and vocabularies in a meaningful context. To present the story PowerPoint presentation will be used. As it is visual it will be interesting, enjoyable and meaningful for students.
Procedure:
1)Firstly, teacher will tell the story by using the PowerPoint presentation which hasn’t got a written text. (Twice)
2)Teacher will tell the story by using the presentation with the written form of the story (once)

3)While telling the story teacher will stop telling from time to time and ask questions to students. (e.g. What is going to happen next? Who is this man? What is your favorite lesson? Have you got Science? )
4)Story will be told three times
Post-storytelling
Activities:
1)Reordering the events in the story by using the worksheet
2)Role-play
Materials: Worksheet which has jumbled sentences (no material is needed for role-play)
Aim: In this part aim is to check whether students understand the story or not by asking them to reorder the events in the story. While doing this activity, they will work in groups. This activity will help them to learn how to take responsibility. Moreover, it will improve their problem-solving activity. In role-play part, students will use the language in a communicative, effective, enjoyable and interesting way.
Procedure:
1)Students will be divided into groups
2)Students will be given worksheets to reorder the event by working with their groups
3)They will share it with the class
4)Students will be asked to perform the story in front of the class ( to do this they should be given some time for preparation.)
