Target vocabularies:
Apple,Fish,Carrot,Rabbit,Umbrella,Moon,Star,Window,Bridge,Flag.
Aims: To help
students convey the meanings of words by using visual support.
Help
students memorize new vocabulary.
Attracting
student’s attentions to the worlds by using pictures.
Introducing new vocabulary and the
correct pronunciation of it.
To develop
working memory for words.
Materials:
Pictures ( by
using power point presentation)
Activities: Power point presentation,Demonstration technique.
Procedure: 1) Teacher shows the power point presentation which
includes the pictures of target vocabulary items and ask the students what they
see.For example; they see the Picture of apple at first and students say in
turkish ‘elma’ then teacher says we call that in english ‘apple’.
2) Teacher demand from the students to repeat the world
‘apple’ after him and all the students say ‘apple’.They don’t see how it is
written.
3) After repeating;Teacher writes the world to the board and
teacher repeats that at each Picture.
Practice
Part
Activities: Picture
dictation, What’s missing.
Aims: Aims of these activities are to help
students internalize the target words and practice them. Moreover; these
activities are helpful at teaching vocabulary to students with fun.
Materials: ------
Procedure: 1)Teacher
wants from the students to draw the pictures of the vocabularies that they have
learnt to the board. For example ; teacher says ‘apple’ and wants from a volunteer
student to drive the Picture of it.They do that for each vocabulary.
2) After they draw all the pictures,they play a game.Teacher
wants from the students to look at the board and wants from the students to
keep the drawings in their mind.Teacher says them to close their eyes and teacher deletes one
of the drawings.Then,teacher wants from the students to tell what he/she
deletes.They do that for each drawing.
Production:
Activitiy:Students write ten sentences related to the vocabularies that they have
learnt.For this teacher wants from the students to keep a notebook just for
words.
Materials: -----
Aim: Students
practice the vocabularies that they have learnt.
Procedure: Students
write sentences with the words they have learnt to practice these words and the
next class teacher checks what they have done.
