TEACHING PRONUNCIATION
GRADE:5 UNIT 14 :
HELP - HELPING THE FAMILY
Target Vocabularies: Record, bus stop,
letter, concert, feed, carry, umbrella, busy
Aims: Aim of this stage is to raise students’ pronunciation
awareness. By using colorful presentation which have the pictures and written
forms of vocabularies, vocabularies and their pronunciations will be presented.
Materials: Minimal pairs exercise sheet
Presentation : Aim of this part is
to make students practice pronunciations of each vocabulary and find the
minimal pairs in words as this activity gives opportunity students to use more
than one word through prediction. Then
this activity allows students to work collaboratively in groups
as there will be communication during the game.
Practice : Firstly teacher
practices some of vocabularies and in
game activity part class will be 2 group. One person from each group will read
the words that have minimal pairs on board. Then other group members will
choose the correct written form of that word. If they can’t find the correct
pronunciation form of word they will have practice chance and they will hear
that word from teacher.
Activities : Minimal pairs exercise
and game.
