TEACHING VOCABULARY
GRADE:5 UNIT 14 :
HELP - HELPING THE FAMILY
Target Vocabularies: Record, bus stop, letter, concert, feed,
carry, umbrella, busy
Aims: To help
students convey the meanings of words by using visual support.
Help
students memorize new vocabulary.
Attracting student’s attentions to the worlds by using pictures.
Introducing
new vocabulary and the correct pronunciation of it.
To develop working
memory for words.
Presentation : At this part we use a PowerPoint
presentation so students will see the new words with some pictures and examples.
Visual support is important and pupils will firstly match that words with their
real life when they encounter on screen. We care that they memorize new
vocabulary.
Materials: powerpoint presentation
Practice : This part requires children active
participation , to do things with the words in order to make strong memory
connections by learning words. Due to that we will make them to do the picture
dictation game and we will try to use all words that used in original book. While doing this activity pupils will draw what teacher says.
Activities : picture dictation
Produce : Pupils
will check their drawings. In order these words to enter their long term
memory they need to practice regularly and recycle words in different contexts.
They are expected to build up their own personalized vocabulary systems.
Aim: Students
practice the vocabularies that they have learnt.
