Food and Drinks
PSESENTATION PART
Target Vocabularies: Fruit juice, chocolate, water, bread, milk, honey, apple, tomato, banana, orange, carrot, coke
Technique: Demonstration
Activity: Presenting food and drinks (Fruit juice, chocolate, water, bread, milk, honey, apple, tomato, banana, orange, carrot, coke) with authentic materials and matching the pictures of food and drinks with their written forms by sticking on the board.
Aims: The main aim of this activity is to help pupils to memorize the words related to food and drinks (Fruit juice, chocolate, water, bread, milk, honey, apple, tomato, banana, orange, carrot, coke) via real objects to create visualization and association between words and their meanings.




Materials: Real objects (Fruit juice, chocolate, water, bread, milk, honey, apple, tomato, banana, orange, carrot, and coke), pictures and written forms of the food and drinks will be used in introduction part.







Procedure:

  •                   First, teacher introduces food and drinks (Fruit juice, chocolate, water, bread, milk, honey, apple, tomato, banana, orange, carrot, coke), by taking out the real objects of food and drinks from a box and says the names of food and drinks by demonstrating them one by one to the students.
  •         Teacher shows the real objects and pronounces them, such as; milk, chocolate, fruit juice, water; then sticks the written forms of the food and drinks to provide students both the visuality objects and written forms on the board.
  •         Later, teacher wants from students to choose the pictures of food and drinks (Fruit juice, chocolate, water, bread, milk, honey, apple, tomato, banana, orange, carrot, coke), and stick them on the written form of the words by labeling and pronouncing them in a correct way on the board to their friends.
  •         Teacher wants from students to pronounce some difficult words, such as; chocolate, fruit juice; but not all words, because it will become a boring situation for them after a while.
PRACTICE PART
Activity: completing words finding missing letters with a team (It will be done as a group competition)
Aims: The main of this activity is  to provide students the chance of completing the words related to food and drinks (Fruit juice, chocolate, water, bread, milk, honey, apple, tomato, banana, orange, carrot, coke) using the letters which are given in a scrambled way and to help learners to work in a collaborative way with their group members.

Materials Cartoon will be given on which there are the pictures of food and drinks (Fruit juice, chocolate, water, bread, milk, honey, apple, tomato, banana, orange, carrot, and coke) and there are blanks for missing letters under the pictures of food and drinks. The completed forms are given below)










Procedure

  •       First, teacher makes groups of three, four according to the size of the class.
  •        Then, teacher distributes to each group a cartoon on which there are the pictures of food and drinks (Fruit juice, chocolate, water, bread, milk, honey, apple, tomato, banana, orange, carrot, coke). On each cartoon, there are pictures of four foods or drinks or in a mixed way and under the pictures some letters are given to be used as clue, some letters are missing that there are blanks in the place of missing letters.
  •         Later, teacher gives the missing letters in a scrambled way in an envelope to each group that teacher wants from each group to find the missing letters in a given time. The group early finishes their work will be rewarded.


  •    In final phase, teacher wants from each group a person to come to the board and present what their food and drinks and what they found completing the blanks. 


 PRODUCTION PART
Activity: Creating a puzzle which should be included the words related to food and drinks ((Fruit juice, chocolate, water, bread, milk, honey, apple, tomato, banana, orange, carrot, coke) and giving some clues or drawing the objects.
Aims: The main aim of this activity is to help learners to revise the words related to food and drinks with an enjoyable activity and to develop their language creativity skills as well.
Materials: Students will design a puzzle on a paper


Procedure:
  •      First, teacher wants from each student create their own puzzle using the words related to food and drinks (Fruit juice, chocolate, water, bread, milk, honey, apple, tomato, banana, orange, carrot, coke) that teacher has told during the process of class.
  •           Then, each student tries to create their own puzzle using the words related to food and drinks, moreover they can draw the food or drink they want to include to give to their friends more clues.
  •          After the creating word puzzle session, teacher wants from students to exchange their puzzles to check themselves how much they can know or predict the puzzle their friends designed.
  •       Later, each  pair comes together, and share the correct answers of puzzle with each other that they do not only make their own productions but also interact with each other  using  their socio-effective strategies.
  •             Peer correction, exchanging the information they have, comparing the results with the original answers give students more confidence, motivation and create stress-free environment.
