PRONUNCIATION OF TARGET VOCABULARIES:

PRESENTATION PART
Activity:
singing a song with a puppet
Aims: The
main aim of this activity is to help young learners to become aware of the
pronunciation of the greeting expressions (good morning, good afternoon, good
evening, good night) via puppets and song
Materials:
- Puppets will be used to sing the song;
In the morning, we say good morning
In the afternoon, we say good
afternoon
In the evening, we say good evening
In the night, we say, good night
PROCEDURE:
- First teacher creates a dialogue between a student and teacher using the puppets.
Student puppet: (asks to the audience) Hello! How
are you? Today, my first lesson is English. I like English with songs, Do you
like English? I also like my teacher. Hey, he is coming. Good mornig teacher good
morniggg!!!
Teacher puppet:
Good morning, not good mornigg, OK? Look, I will say a song, and you
will say it after me, ok?
In the morning, we say good morning
In the afternoon, we say good
afternoon
In the evening, we say good evening
In the night, we say, good night
Teacher puppet: Now, sing it.
Student puppet:
In
the morning, we say good morning
In
the afternoon, we say good afternoon
In
the evening, we say good evening
In
the night, we say, good night
Student puppet: Hey, now I like English, the songs are enjoyable!!!!
PRACTICE
Activity: Associating
the right picture with right written forms (Good morning, good afternoon, good
evening and good night) singing the song;
In the morning, we say good morning
In the afternoon, we say good
afternoon
In the evening, we say good evening
In the night, we say, good night
- Wearing the cartoon character masks, going around the classroom and saying to each other Good morning, good afternoon, good evening and good night.
Materials:
- The pictures related to morning, afternoon, evening and night and the written forms of the song will be used to help learners make more association and visualization between forms, meanings and how they are pronounced
- Cartoon character masks will be used to present a chance to the students to practice the pronunciation of the greeting words (Good morning, good afternoon, good evening and good night) in a more interactive way.
PROCEDURE
- First, teacher sticks the written forms of the song to the board and wants students to choose one picture, stick it under or near the right written form singing the song. For example, one voluntary student will come, choose a picture and stick it on the board saying the song “ın the morning, we say good morning” , another student will come choose a picture, sticks it on the board singing the song “In the afternoon, we say good afternoon”
- After, this activity, teacher distributes the cartoon character masks (Shrek, Donald Duck, Sid..) to the students and want them to go around the classroom, when they come across with an another cartoon character, they will say; Good morning, good afternoon, good evening and good night (choosing one of them)
PROCEDURALIZING PART
Activity: Writing a song which will include
the greeting expressions (Good morning, good afternoon, good evening and good
night)
Aim: The aim of this activity is to help learners
raise sound and pronunciation awareness in the greeting expression creating
their own products in a collaborative way.
Materials: Students write their songs on a
piece of paper
Procedure:
- Teacher wants students to make groups and then wants them to write their own songs which will include the words the greeting expressions (Good morning, good afternoon, good evening and good night).
- After students write their songs, they come to the board and try to sing their own songs with a correct pronunciation and rhythm.
