TEACHING GRAMMAR
Lesson: English
Grade : 5 th
Language point : Unit 8 My Favorite Activities (My favorite activities, my leisure time activities, like.)
Aim :
Ø  To make students get the grammar points implicitly without using mother language, to give many opportunities to students to make practice with the grammar in both  collaborative and individual way, to provide  that students can use what they learn in classroom in real life.
Materials :
Board , board marker, pictures, worksheet.

Noticing

Aim : Students will be able to get the message of something they like may be their favorite activity. There is a relation between what we like doing and our favorite activities. They will learn it is used Ving form after like and my favorite activity is.

Ø  First, teacher sticks some pictures to the board without saying anything to attract students’ attention. Thus; students worry about what teacher is doing and they watch her.

Ø  Second , she says the meanings of pictures.

Ø  For example : pointing  that  picture , she says ‘riding a bicycle, he likes riding a bicycle, his favorite activity is riding a bicycle’. She continues to tell so until all the pictures finishes.

Ø  Next, she writes the sentences below by saying them first.

What is your favorite activity?
My favorite activity is playing the guitar.
My favorite activity is drawing picture .
My favorite activities are  reding books and doing jigsaw puzzles.

Do you like playing tennis?
Yes, I do.                           No, I don’t

Is your activity studying English?
Yes,it is                          No,it isn’t

You like picnics. Your favorite activity is going to picnic.

Ø  She gives their meaning by her body language. She asks questions like  ‘ do you like doing sports? , what is your favorite activity?’ and gives the answers herself.

Ø  Then , she asks these questions to students and get the answers from them.

Structuring

Aim : to make students practice as much as possible so that they can learn it good enough and make it automatic.
Ø  She divides the class into two groups. She sticks some pictures on board. As they did in the presentation part,  Each group is required to write sentences according to pictures like that :
Shopping, she likes shopping, her favorite activity is shopping

.

Ø  Then, the group who finishes earlier , gives their sheet to teacher.
Ø  She distributes students the worksheet she has already prepared for them. She explains how to do it. She gives some time to students to think and complete the task. While they are completing the test items on it, the teacher controls the sheets of group in the previous game. At the end of it, she gives little prices to members of winner group.
Ø  Then they check the answers together.

Ø  She asks students if they have something to ask. If it is, she summaries the subject.

Proceduralising

Aim : to make students produce their own language
Ø  Teacher requires students to find five new words and make sentences about them as they did both in noticing and structuring part of the lesson.
