5th Grade Unit 4 School Life Pronunciation Activities

PRONUNCIATION TEACHING

The aim is to show the grammatical function of what is being said, for example, whether something is a statement, command or question

WHAT TO TEACH: Falling intonation.

HOW TO TEACH:

(MATERIALS)




ACTIVITY 1: I will use a video which is related to the classroom instructions. Students will see how the teacher uses instructions. After hearing each command, I will write the instruction on the board. By using falling intonation, students will repeat the sentences after me.

ACTIVITY 2: I will give some instructions and students will do them.
For example: “Please sit down.”  “Show me your pencils.”  “Put your pencils away.”

ACTIVITY 3: One of the students will come to the board and other students give him or her some commands by using falling intonation and the students will do them.
