5th Grade Unit 4 School Life Vocabulary Activities

LESSON: ENGLISH
CLASS: 5TH GRADE
UNIT: SCHOOL LIFE

Stage 1: Understanding and learning the meanings of the new words

ACTIVITY: Showing the pictures of the words and using actions
MATERIALS:  PowerPoint (pictures)




AIM:  It is an activity to show the pictures of the words and clarify the meaning of the words by using actions at the same time. The pictures will call students’ attention to some verbs.

PROCEDURE:
§  At the beginning of the lesson, I will show them some pictures of the words. After each picture, I will use my actions and want them to act like me and write the verbs on the board.



Stage 2: Attending to form

ACTIVITY: Listening and repeating
MATERIALS: Board marker
AIM: Students will reinforce what they have learned from the pictures and actions. They will see writings of the words and repeat them. 

PROCEDURE:
§  After showing the pictures and actions, I will write the words on the board.
§   I will tell their names.
§  I will make students repeat the words after me.

Stage 3: Vocabulary practicing, memorizing and checking activities

ACTIVITY:  Game
MATERIALS: One of the student
AIM: Students will combine what they have learned in this activity. By guessing their friend’s actions, students will develop their knowledge about the topic. They will learn better.

PROCEDURE:
§  I will call one of the students to come in front of the class.
§  I will say him or her to act according to the verbs.
§  The student will use actions and try to act the verb.
§  Other students will guess what she/he is trying to act.
