5th Grade Unit 7 Likes Dislikes

Unite: 7 Likes Dislikes
Materials:
The Target Words: spinach, apple, banana, lemon, hazelnut, egg, onion

Teacher prepares a Power Point presentation before the lesson which contains the Picture of words she wants to teach. She supports pictures with some animals are related to the words and writes some sentences. For example; she supports the “banana” with a monkey’s picture. Before the lesson time, she checks the computer and prepares the presentation. When she comes to the class, she chats with the students and asks how they are. After that, she opens the presentation and she reads the first sentence. Popeye likes spinach” she says and writes the whole sentence on the board so the students can learn how to spell the new words. While she reading, she sometimes make them to guess or the students may repeat the sentences after she says.


Practice
After the teacher presents the new words, she says that they will make a crossword puzzle. She hands out the puzzle. The crossword puzzle has mixed letters and there are some clues to find the new words. Some words are hidden in the sentences or some pictures help students to find the new words. After she hands out, she gives 3-4 minutes them to think about the words. Then she asks students to say which word they find and where they find the words. Students answer the questions one by one. The teacher sometimes asks that they like these fruits or not
Consolidating
The teacher asks them to dram the fruits which they like or don’t like. Students draw these fruits from the fruit they like most to the fruit they don’t like. After drawing, they talk about them.They may say why they like or don’t like.
