GRAMMAR LESSON PLAN

5th Grade 

Unit:7  LIKE DISLIKE-FOODS

Language points:Food vocabularies, like-dislike.

NOTICING

Activity:Powerpoint presentation

Materials:Computer, projector




Aim:The aim of this part is to teach the vocabularies of foods and the structure of like-dislike, and make them aware of how to use them.


Procedure:The teacher begins the lesson by asking “Which foods do you like? Which foods do you know? What are they? Can you say the names of foods?” Then the students say the names of foods which they know.After that, the teacher uses the slide to teach them.In the slide, there are pictures of foods and their names.Firstly, the teacher shows the picture and pronounces its name and the students repeat it, then the teacher shows its written form and the students take note.After they have become aware of their names, the teacher asks some of students to be sure that they have learnt.Finally, the teacher teaches like and dislike as a chunk “What do you like? What do you dislike? I like spagetti.I dislike pizza.”They learn them with pictures in the slide.The teacher pronounces them and explains.


STRUCTURING

Activity:Powerpoint presentation, peer group

Materials:Computer, projector

Aim:The aim of this part is to use these vocabularies into sentences, produce their own sentences, make them aware of how to use them with their peers, also learn usage of and, but, or.

Procedure:The teacher uses the table in the slide.The teacher asks the class, “Which food does Ayşe like? What does Fatma dislike? What do Ali and Ayşe like?” The students answer according to the table.Then, the studens make pair work, they ask each other, “What do you like? What do you dislike?Finally, they show it to the class.


PROCEDURALISING

Activity:Making a menu

Materials:Paper, pictures of foods, sticker, pen

Aim:The aim of this part is to use them, produce a product about this subject.

Procedure:The students will make a menu at home by finding the pictures of foods which they like or dislike.They will stick them to the paper and they will write which one of them they like or dislike on the menu.
