Activity 1: Presenting the vocabulary with a PowerPoint
presentation
Aims:
·
To learn the meaning of the words from pictures and
teacher’s explanations
·
To learn the meaning of the words by demonstration
·
To learn the words’ correct pronunciations
·
To learn the written form of the words
Procedure: Teacher
presents the vocabularies by using the PowerPoint presentation which was
prepared by the teacher. S/he shows each word with pictures and says correct
pronunciation at first. Also s/he explains the words’ meaning in English while
s/he is showing the pictures. May be s/he can give some simple examples and if
they couldn’t understand the meaning of the word, the teacher can translate the
meaning of the word in Turkish. After s/he explains the words’ meaning and says
the correct pronunciation, s/he wants the students to pronounce the words.
Activity 2: What’s
missing game with flash cards on the map
Aims:

To provide the students to practice the words
·
To assess the students’ attention
Procedure: The
teacher draws a map on the board. S/he shows the flashcards with pictures
prepared by the teacher. After s/he shows the flashcards, s/he puts the
flashcards on the map. Then s/he takes one of them from the map and asks
students to find missing flashcard.
Activity 3: Preparing
posters with groups
Aims:

To improve students’ speaking skills
·
To making group work activity
Procedure: Teacher
divides students into groups. Each group brings carton and some pictures about
vocabularies which are learned before (restaurant, hotel, gym, museum, post
office, shopping center, zoo, fire station, police station). They prepare a map
together by using these pictures. Then they present their maps.
