Activity 1: Story telling
Aims:

To
understand the story
·
To
learn the correct pronunciations of vocabularies
Procedure: Teacher starts to tell a story. In this story there
are all vocabularies which learned. While the teacher is telling the story,
s/he puts the flashcards which are about the vocabularies on the board one by
one. For example, while she is saying “One day Tony took a holiday with his
parents. They stayed in a hotel.” she puts the hotel’s flashcard on the board.
After she had finished the story, students repeat the vocabularies with correct
pronunciation.
Story:
TONY’S HOLIDAY
One day Tony takes a holiday with his parents. They
stay in a hotel. The hotel is next to the police station. They go out the hotel
to tour the city. First they go to the zoo. The zoo is very big and Tony see a
lot of animals in there. Then they go to the city museum. He sees the old
artifacts and some dinosaur bones. They are very impressive. After the museum
tour, they go to the restaurant to eat lunch. The restaurant is across the fire
station. Tony can see red fire trucks while he is eating his lunch. Tony and
his parents finish their meals then they go to the shopping center. They buy
new clothes and some souvenirs both for themselves and their friends. While
they are going out the shopping center, Tony’s father makes a surprise for
Tony. He shows two tickets for football match in the stadium. Tony’s mother
returns the hotel and Tony and his father go to the stadium to watch the match.
Activity 2: Spelling and matching
Aims:

To
spell vocabularies correctly
·
To
unite the syllables correctly
·
To
match vocabularies with pictures
Procedure: Teacher divides the board into two. She puts the
pictures of vocabularies in one side of the board and she puts the spell of the
vocabularies randomly. The students try to unite the spells according to
pictures of the vocabularies. After they unite the vocabularies, they try to
say correct pronunciation of the vocabularies.
Activity 3: Silent words
Aims:
·
To
understand words from mouth movements
·
To
be aware of mouth positions for English sounds
Procedure: Teacher puts the word cards on the board. S/he says
the words silently and students try to guess which word the teacher said
according to her/his mouth motivations.
