5th Grade Unit 12 Health Problems Vocabulary Activities

UNIT:  Health Problems

GRADE: 5

VOCABULARY POINTS: Stomachache, fever, cough, broken arm

Activity1: Presenting the vocabulary with a TV slide.

AIMS:

1-      To comprehend the meaning of the words from the pictures.

2-      To comprehend the meaning of the words by demonstration.

3-      To pronounce the words correctly.

4-      To learn the written form of the words.
           
MATERIALS: A TV slide prepared with a box, sticks and cards, flashcards.







PROCEDURE: The teacher presents the vocabulary using a television slide which was prepared by her. She shows each word of illnesses and pronounces and demonstrates at first. Then, while starting with the first word, she pronounces the words again and wants the students to pronounce the words. After each word pronounced, the teacher put the written form of the words on the board.

Activity2: Matching the written form of the words with the suitable flashcards.

AIMS:

1-      To provide the students to practice the words (stomachache, fever, cough, broken arm).

PROCEDURE: The teacher wants some of the students to match the flashcards which include the illnesses (stomachache, fever, cough, broken arm) with the written form of the words which are put on the board before.
