Lesson:           English
Grade:            5th

Subject:          Personal possessions – Professionals and their tools

Materials:       PowerPoint Presentation

Aims:              To learn the professions

Engage students in the learning process

Learning the vocabulary presented in the unit

Activity1:

First the teacher will show a PowerPoint presentation. This PowerPoint presentation includes the pictures of certain professions (just like doctor, nurse, cook, fireman, teacher, engineer, farmer, mechanic etc.) and their names. The pictures should first appear so that the students have the chance to guess their names. Afterwards the names will appear in the presentation

The second step is to show just the pictures of the professions and let the students say their names. So they will repeat the new vocabulary items.

Activity2:

In order to practice the new vocabulary the teacher hangs up randomly some pictures and profession names on the board. The students are expected to match the pictures with the according names. The students can come to the board one by one and after each matching the student has to read the name aloud.
