Unit 3: My Family

 Language Point: Correct pronunciation of family members' names


1)      Present
Watching a video

Materials
Video and computer

 Aim of the activity
With the help of the video, we can draw students’ attention towards lesson. In addition they can be aware of the pronunciation of the names of family members.
Stages
·         Teacher presents the video about the family members in it.
·         The video includes the pronunciations of the family members.
·         Thanks to video students can realize the pronunciation of the family members.

2)      Practice
 Spelling activity

            Aim of the activity
·         Students can write the names of the family members with the help of this activity.


Stages
·         Teacher divides the class into including 5 students groups.
·         Teacher begins to spell the names of the family members such as m-o-t-h-e-r.
·         Students can try to write the name of the members in their notebooks.
·         The end of the writing of all words, one student from each group will write the words on the board.
·         Lastly, the group which writes all words rightly will win.



3)      Produce
Draw and speak activity

Materials
Colorful pens

Aim of the activity
·         Students can be aware of the pronouncing of family members’ names.
·         They also produce the meaningful sentences about their family members such as I am a father, and who are you?
Stages
·         Firstly, students draw their fingers whichever family members they want to be.
·         Then, they will work with their pairs.
·         They speak each other first of all volunteer students, then the others; for instance, I am a father, who are you?
·         Teacher will listen to their pronunciation of family members. If they don’t pronounce appropriately, after the activity, the teacher can repeat the all words again.
