Unit 14: Physical Appearance

Language Point:

Descriptive adjectives: tall,short,dark,fair,long,short,fat,thin,big,small.

She has got long curly fair hair. 

Aims: With this activity,teacher aims to present the adjectives (tall,short,dark,fair,long,short,fat,thin,big,small) by using pictures. After this activity students will be able to describe physical appearance by using the adjectives (tall,short,dark,fair,long,short,fat,thin,big,small).

 PRESENTATION

Activity Name: Using Flashcards

Aim of the Activity: This activity can develop students’ visual learning.It can provide controlled practice where students are focusing on producing the correct grammatical form or pronunciation.This activity can also prepare the students for freer activities such as guessing games,role-play or pair work.

Produce(How to do it ):

Show flashcards of the adjectives (tall,short,dark,fair,long,short,fat,thin,big,small)  to the class.You can tell the students what the adjectives are in the flashcards? And ask them to repeat the adjectives.Then in this time,show the pictures again and ask them to tell what the adjectives are?Also, you can ask them to stick the pictures to the board  because the class can see them more easily.

PRACTICE

Activity Name: Guessing Games

Aim of the Activity: This activity can provide a realistic context for practising the pronunciation of specific structures(tall,short,dark,fair,long,short,fat,thin,big,small).This activity can develop students’ creative thinking and creativity.These types of games involve students in asking questions or describing something or someone,so this activity can provide that the students interact with each other.

Produce(How to do it ):

Ask students to draw a picture of an animal that they would like to have without showing the class.Also,you can ask the students to describe someone in the class without saying his or her name.Firstly,you can demonstrate this game since the students can understand more easily.Then,you ask one person of the class to tell his/her animal or someone’s features that he/she chose to the class.The class must listen and guess what it is ? or who she/he is ?

For example; He has got dark short hair.He is wearing a blue t-shirt.He is tall.He has got green eyes.He is thin.
It has got long ears.It has got short tail.It has got small noise.It has got small foot.
