Matearils: Pictures and Ppt Presentation,A songActivity Name: Using pictures or flashcards with a song
Aim of the Activity: In this part, students should understand the meaning and use of the language point we want to teach. This activity can help the students connect the pictures with the meaning.Repetition is also important because correct pronunciation and stress is necessary to learn the language for the students without making a mistake.Produce(How to do it ):
Use pictures which include adjectives such as tall, short, long, short, big, little, clean, dirty, fast, slow.Show the pictures to the class and ask the class to guess how the pictures are pronounced. When the students say in Turkish, you can say them in English of the adjectives in the pictures. When they first hear, they do not understand so you can demonstrate to them.Firstly, you can stick the pictures on the board to show them directly and then you can write the adjectives under the pictures. Also, you can repeat and then they can repeat all together again.Lastly, you can strengthen the adjectives with something which the students like. You can listen to a song about the adjectives to them.In first time, they only listen to the song. Then when they listen to it again, you can ask the class to sing all together aloud.PRACTICE
Activity Name: What’s missing ?( in pairs or groupwork )
Aim of the Activity: This activity allows students to memorize these adjectives with the pictures. When they do not see the pictures or the adjectives, the students can connect each other and they can find the correct answer easily. Also,it encourages the students to think, speak and participate in the activity.Produce(How to do it ):
Before you start to play the game, you can demonstrate firstly and you can play in front of the class for one time.Divide the class into pairs. Also, the game can be played as a group. This can change according the number of the students.Ask the class to look at the pictures carefully and tell them to close their eyes.Remove one of the pictures from the board.Pupils open their eyes and tell you what is missing. When one of the class answer the question, you could ask the rest of the class whether the answer right or not. Also, you can ask the students to remove one picture from the board since they can be more active. The students can ask his/her friend to guess what is missing. This version is more funny, effective and comprehensible.REFERENCES:
