4th Grade Unit 11 Food and Drinks Speaking Activities

UNIT 11 : FOOD AND DRINKS
TEACHING SPEAKING ACTIVITY

Activity 1 : LISTENING TO A SONG AND SINGING

Aims: Students will improve their listening skills and they will sing a song altogether in a stress free environment. They will use “I’m hungry” and “I’m thirsty” structures with the song.



Procedure : The students will listen to the song two times and hear the ryhtm and they get the lyrics of the song;
“ Im hungry
l`d like someting to eat
Im thirsty
l`d like someting to drink
what`s your favorite food
what`s your favorite food
Im hamnurgers
l like tuna sandwiches
he likes hamburaers
she likes tuna sandwiches
how about you
lm hungry
l`d like someting to eat
Im thirsty

what`s your favorite drink
I like orange juice

 By  getting the lyrics in their hands and hearing the song two times, they will be familiar with it. Then, they will sing the song together. After singing, the other activity starts.


Activity 2 : I Went to the Market

Aims:   
  • Students will use their vocabulary about food and drinks.
  • They will have a speaking practice
  • They will be motivated to speak with the game
  • They will use their memory

Procedure :
·         The teacher divides the class into groups and selects one group to help demonstrate rules
·         The teacher starts by saying, "I went to the market and I bought an apple."
·         Student next to the teacher follows by saying, "I went to the market and I bought an apple and some eggs."
·         The next student continues by saying, "I went to the market and I bought an apple, some eggs, and a potato."
·        The game continues with each student repeating what previous members said and adding one item to the shopping list
