UNIT 11 : FOOD AND DRINKS
Field of teaching : VOCABULARY TEACHING
Vocabulary: sandwich, fruit juice, hamburger,
chocolate, pizza, coke, cheese, tea, water, bread, ice-cream, milk, honey,
coffee,egg,cake, apple, tomatoe,banana, grapes, etc.
Aims: Students will learn new food and drink vocabulary and they
will be able to say food and drinks in English.
Activity 1 : Demonstration with authentic
materials, listening to a song and singing aloud
Materials : Authentic materials (apple, fruit
juice, orange, etc. ) in a basket and a video
Procedure : The teacher brings a basket with
full of food and drinks to the class. S/he uses them to introduce new vocabulary. S/he takes an apple from the basket and says for instance;

APPLE,
It is an apple, There is an apple in my basket
·
ORANGE,
It is an orange, there is an orange in my basket, etc.
S/he does this for each food and drinks in the basket. After demonstration
with authentic materials, students will listen to a song about the relevant
vocabulary and they will sing aloud together.
Activity 2 : What's Missing? game
Materials : Authentic materials
Procedure : The teacher divides the class into
two groups and shows items. S/he wants the students to close their eyes, and
removes one item. Each team should find the missing food or drink at ten
seconds and say it loudly. They work and decide in collaboratively. After using
all materials, activity ends.
