4th Grade Unit 3 My Family Games

GAMES
GRADE: 4th

UNIT 3: My Family

VOCABULARY: Mother, father, brother, sister, grandmother, grandfather.




AIMS:

·         To make students motivating for lesson
·         To make lesson interesting and fun
·         To increase pupil- pupil cooperation and communication
·         To make learning memorable with the help of the games
·         To develop students’ positive awareness about lesson
·         To make students aware of the family members’ names


ACTIVITY 1

CARD AND MOVEMENT GAME

LANGUAGE: Who are you? I am … father, mother, brother, sister, grandmother, grandfather, and baby.

OTHER: Understanding family relationships.


Procedures:
1.      Teacher divides class into groups for 4 or 5 people.
2.      Teacher mixes the cards and gives one to each child. He/she explains to them that each card is a member of a family.
3.      Then, the music begins to play. The children move in the class by exchanging cards with each other.
4.      The music stops and the children must find the rest of the family. They can ask questions with each other for finding the rest of the family while asking ‘Who are you?. I am a father of John.
5.      When the children find the rest of the family, they say that we are ready.
6.      The game stops, and the children must describe who they are. If they are right, they win.


ACTIVITY 2
FAMILY SALAD
LANGUAGE: Vocabulary revision, listening.
OTHER: Quick reactions
Procedures:
1.      Students sit in the circle.
2.      Teacher gives each student one family members’ name.
3.      Then, when the teacher says ‘MOTHER’, students who are mother have to change their places. If a student doesn't find a place, she/he will leave from the game.
4.      Then, when the teacher says ‘ FATHER’, students who are father have to change their places. If a student doesn't find a place, he/she will from the game.
5.      The game continues like that.
