4th grade Unit 3 My Family Game Activities

UNIT:  MY FAMILY

GRADE: 4

ACTIVITY: TEACHING GAMES

GRAMMAR POINT: HAVE GOT/ HAS GOT

VOCABULARY POINT:  Grandfather, Grandmother, Father, Mother, Sister, Brother, Baby, Aunt, Uncle

AIMS
-          To develop positive attitude towards language learning
-          To motivate students
-          To develop colloborative relationships between students
-          To help them develop their memorization skills
-          To introduce family members in a funny way

MATERIALS
-          Powerpoint presentation
-          The pictures of family members
-          Sticker
-          Boardmarker


PROCEDURE

ACTIVITY 1- WHISPER GAME
            Teacher comes the class and says ‘Hello’ to the students. He / she opens the presentation and tell the members of the family. Students try to memorize the words. Teacher closes the presentation and they start a game. But before starting, teacher puts the pictures on a desk and the games starts. Students divide into three groups and take their place. Teacher whispers a word to the ear of the students who sit at the front and they turn their back and also they whisper to ear of their friends. If the  word goes to the  last students who sit at the back and they stick the picture to the wall they get 10 points. But the one who sticks the picture first gets the point. Others can not get the point. This game lasts like that until the  pictures finish. The winners get chocolate from the teacher.

ACTIVITY 2-  SILENT CINEMA
            Teacher divides the students into groups and shows the pictures the head of group members. The head of the group members try to tell the pictures with their mimic and gestures to their group members. For example; they can tell the ‘grandmother’ walking with a stick. They have a funny time while doing this activity and this activity goes on like that.
