LESSON     : English

GRADE        : 5

UNIT          : 9

SUBJECT   : Farm Life

Noticing Activity

Objectives:

      ·            To attract the students' attention,to the topic

     ·              To increase their level of awareness about farm animals and like and dislike structures.

Materials

·      The projector and video.

The procedure of the lesson;

·         The teacher comes to the class and greets the students by asking questions such as ‘How are you, today?’.. etc.

·         Then she starts to the lesson by asking questions such as; ‘Do you like animals?’ ‘What are your favorite animals?’ or ‘Have you ever thought to feed an animals in your home?’ .. etc to be able to check their background knowledge.

·         Then, she tells the students that they will listen to and watch a video related to the farm animals and asks them to sing while they are listening.

Structuring Activity

Objectives;

·         To help the students internalize the grammatical patterns such as like and dislike structures using the animal words. Because they are expected to produce sentences including these structures with the animals.

·         To control whether they have learned the farm animals and like and dislike structure taught before, well. To see whether they can use like and dislike structures in a correct way.

·         To struggle to make the students engage in the activities related to the farm animals. Because; they are wanted to use these structures by making the sentences such as ‘ Pig likes playing with the mug. The teacher asks him ‘Do you like the pigs?’ and the student gives an answer.’ I don’t like the pigs. Thanks to these activities the students can learn these structures and the names of the animals, successfully.

Procedure of the lesson :

·         The teacher brings the flashcards of the farm animals to the class. There are the short explanations in them.

·         He divides the students to the groups with two people.

·         All groups choose a flashcard randomly.

·         One person looks at what he/she has chosen and tries to describe which animal he/she sees on it by using the explanations put inside them by the teacher or adding their own words. In small notes, there are the animal features. For example; the animal is sheep. ‘’It likes grass. It says baa baa. I like them very much.’’ In this way,  He tells about the features of the animal by using these explanations or saying another things.. His group mate tries to guess which animal it is and describes it to the class as far as he understands. And all class try to guess it.

·         If the prediction is true, another group is in turn. However; if it is wrong, the person describing it first tells about other features of it clearly.

·         The activity goes on in this way.

Proceduralising Activity

Objectives;

·                      To make the students use the language and grammar they have learned.

·                         To make them active in the lesson activities.

·                        To make the students practice listening, writing, speaking

Materials:

·                     The text about the farm animals.

The procedure of the lesson;

·         The teacher brings the text said above. And she reads it to the class.

·         Listeners listen to the text and the teacher reads it again and waits for a while reading so that the students can take notes.

·         Then they are expected to reconstruct the text, again.
