5th Grade Unit 7 Likes And Dislikes Speaking Activity

Unit: Like/Dislike

Grade: 5th Grade

Aims of the activity:

1. Students will be able to improve their speaking ability with the help of these activities and they will be motivated to speak.

2. They will produce their own utterances so they will be aware of how to use this structure.

3. Another aim of these acitivities is to help students improve their pronunciation.

Using a puppet:

Procedures:

1.  Teacher says “ we have a guess whose name is Barney.

2.  Then, she says Barney has some questions. She starts to ask questions using this puppet. She asks “ Barney wants to know if A likes oranges or not. Do you like oranges?”

3.  Student A answers it and takes the puppet and starts to ask a question one of the students.

4. The student answering the question takes the puppet and asks another question another student. He/she can ask “Do you like oranges or apples?”. That’s why the student who will answer the question will use “but/and” connectors.

While using the puppet, students will produce their own sentences, so they will be aware of how to use like/dislike structure and the words related to the topic.
