Lesson Plan

Unit: 7  Likes/Dislikes

Grade: 5th Grade

Language points: food names (banana, onion soup, vegetable soup, chips, spinach) and the structure of “like and don’t like” , “ favorite dishes

Materials : Pictures ( I put the pictures on PPT but actually I will print and put them on the board)

Aims:

Students improve their listening skill

Students will be able to improve their guessing ability while they are listening

Students will learn how to pronounce the foods

Students will understand the structure of “like and don’t like”

Students will be able to produce their own sentences with this structure

Noticing:

Teacher has made an activity about this unit.The students have started to know that the food names. Then she puts the food pictures and some characters on the board and while putting, she ask questions like "do you like banana?" or something like that. This activity aims to remind them the foods and she says that she will tell an interesting story to them

Structuring:

Teacher starts the story:

“Once upon a time, there are Lice and Dice. They live in a forest. One day they are lost in the forest while they are playing. Then they run, run and run. And suddenly they see a house with chocolate. Lice likes the chocolate very much and starts to eat. Of course, Dice doesn’t like chocolate so he doesn’t eat. Then Lice wants to go inside and knock the door. An ugly woman opens the door and they go inside.

They are shocked. There are so many food in the house. They eat some of them. They say thank you, stand up. They want to leave the house but the ugly women says “ please stay here. I want to eat a dinner with you. I am so alone.” They accept and start to prepare meal. And the woman always talks while she is putting the food

“I like vegetable but I don’t like vegetable soup” and I don’t put vegetable on the meal

“I like banana but it is not my favorite dish” and I don’t put banana on the meal

“I like onion but I don’t like onion soup” and I don’t put onion on the meal

“ I like chicken but it is not my favorite dish” and I don’t put chicken on the meal

“I like fish but it is not my favorite dish” and I don’t put fish on the meal

“I like spinach but it is not my favorite dish” and I don’t put spinach on the meal.

They afraid of this women and want to escape. But the woman catches the Dice on the cage. At the moment the ugly women eats Dice, Lice wakes up. All thes events are just a dream. She hugs her brother and sleep again

PROCEDURALISING

After she finishes the story, she hang out some papers which include these questions:

1) Did you like the story ?

2) Tell me the foods you heard

3)Show me the foods you heard

4)Tell me what are your favorite dishes
5) What happened at the end of the story?
6) Tell me 3 foods which ugly women like

All the questions are asked and answered
