5th Grade Unit 1 My Country Teaching Game Activities

TEACHING GAME LESSON PLAN

LESSON: ENGLISH

CLASS: 5TH GRADE

UNIT: COUNTRIES /MY COUNTRY


LANGUAGE POINT: ‘AM/IS/ARE’ STRUCTURE



AIMS :
-          To teach basic greeting expressions (What is your name?, Where are you from?
-          To create stress-free atmosphere for students
-          To activate student’s schemata
-          To develop their attention span, concentration, memory and listening skills.
-          To improve the intonation and pronunciation of language while they have fun.
-          To help learners to practice basic greeting expressions
-          To warm the student to the lesson
-          To provide collaboration comes out between the learners

WARM-UP STAGE

-Teacher enters and greets the students.

-He tells the students that first they will watch a video after that they will play a game.

-He opens the video of song.

-Students listen it two or three times. They see and remember the basic greeting structures.   

PROCEDURE PART
The game is based on memory. First the teacher explains the game. He chooses one student in class and tells her ‘Hello! What is your name?’. The students answer the question and she choose another student and tells ‘Hello, What is your name?‘ The student she chooses first tell the student name who ask question to him. ‘’your name is Ayşe and my name is Melih’’. Then he chooses another students. The game continues until one student makes a mistake. Students should listen each other carefully and memorize their names.
