4th Grade Unit 1 New Friends Games

4th grade
Unit 1: New Friends
Aims:
Linguistic dimensions:

Repetition: Good morning/ good afternoon/ good evening/ good night
Psychological dimensions:
Content/ subject matter: Relevant to the unit, interesting and memorable
Motivation: Enjoyment
Materials: flashcard, colorful pictures, patafix, and board.

 
Present Part:
Flashcard game:
1.       Students learn the greetings on the flashcard.
2.       There are pictures of good morning, good afternoon, good evening and good night.
3.       The teacher shows these pictures to the students.
4.       The teacher introduces the pictures to the students.
 Practice Part:
Kim’s game:
1.       The teacher sticks to greeting pictures on the board.
2.       S/he wants the students to look carefully the pictures.
3.       S/he asks the students to close their eyes.
4.       The teacher takes one of the pictures on the board and asks the students what’s missing.
5.       The students try to find the missing picture.
Procedure part:    
One word singing game:
1.       The students decide on the first song and sing one or two verses together, to get in the mood for the game.
2.       In turn each child sings only one word of the song, for example, Child 1 sings Good, Child 2 sings Morning, Child 3 sings Good, Child 4 sings Morning, Child 5 sings Good, and Child 6 sings Afternoon. The teacher may let the children the clap to keep the pace and rhythm for the song going.
3.        The song continues like this until it is finished. The child who sings the last word can decide what the next song will be.
