4th Grade Unit 2 My Classroom Storytelling

Aim                                    :To teach some grammar and vocabulary points in an enjoyable atmosphere.



PRE-STORYTELLING:

Aim:

            In this activity, students catch the general idea of the story from the pictures on the computer. They will make guesses about setting, characters. They will try to guess what the story is about.

Procedure:

In this part, students make some guesses about the story.

Teacher shows some pictures from the story.

After students have a general idea about the story, teacher starts to tell the story.

 

Materials: pictures

 

WHILE-STORYTELLING:

                    Goldilocks and the Three Bears

             Once upon a time there is a little girl. Her name is Goldilocks. One day while she is preparing her school bag, she wants to walk in the forest. She puts school objects such as book, notebook, ruler, rubber in her schoolbag. While she is walking, she sees a beautiful house.’ This is a beautiful house’ she says. The house belongs to a bear family. They go out for a walk. She enters the house easily because the door is open. She puts her schoolbag on the table ’Oo this table is so nice’ Then she sits on a chair.’ Oo this chair is so small’ she sits on another chair. ‘oo this chair is so big’ then she sits on the other chair ’oh this chair is so good’. Then she eats all the meal and says ‘This meal is so good’ She wants to sleep and sees three beds. She says ’oo this small bed is so good’ Then The bear family comes to house. They see strange things in the house. Baby bear begins to cry ’this soup is eaten’ Then baby bear sits on the chair ‘this chair is broken ‘ says baby bear. Daddy bear also says ‘ this soup is eaten, this chair is broken’ then mummy bear say ‘ this soup is fine and this chair is also fine’ Then they go to bedroom and baby bear says ‘ come here daddy and mummy ‘ look at my bed, someone is sleeping ‘ Goldilocks wake up and see the bear family. She scares and runs away immediately

Aim:

            In this activity, students learn some grammar points (this/that).Grammar points are repetitive in the story. Thanks to this, students enjoy while learning and it is easy for them to learn in a repetitive sentences. Also students learn some school objects such as school bag, pencil, book, ruler, rubber, door, chair, table,

Procedure:

While telling the story, teacher performs the characters.

Teacher uses some real materials such as school bag, chair, table.

While teacher is telling the story, a presentation will be shown.

Materials:  presentation, real school objects

 

 

POST-STORYTELLING

Aim:

 After storytelling, the aim is to understand how much students have learned from the story and what they have learned.

Procedure:

They will act out the story.

Four students work in group and then act out the story by using the mask of the characters in the story .One of them will be goldilocks, baby bear, daddy bear and mummy bear.

While they are using the masks in acting out, they will enjoy and remove their stress.
