related vocabularies which are pronounced: “aυ” and “θ” such as North and South
Aim of it:
Students can learn how to pronounce “aυ” and “θ” sounds correctly as possible as by
understanding where these sounds are produced in the mouth.
Procedure:
The teacher
enters classroom by greeting students and show a picture which shows where “aυ”
and “θ” sounds
are produced. She says that everybody imitates what she does with her mouth. At
first she begins with firstly “aυ” and then “θ”. After all students do, she pronounces
these sounds and wants students to produce them. Then she stiches some pictures
which are north, thumb, think, tooth, thin, South, house, hour and town. She pronounces
them one by one and wants students to repeat these words.

Actıvıty:
Matchıng the Picture
Aim of the
activity: Students can improve their listening skills. With this activity they
can have fun by learning how to pronounce these sounds.
Procedure
The teacher
says that they are going to have a competition. The teacher divides classroom
into three groups. She explains that she says a word and in 15 seconds one of
group members comes to sticks the word under the picture. She continues whose
groups can match more quickly and correctly than others do will be winner of
the competition.

Activity: Drawing
the picture
Aim of the
activity: This activity comes out peer correction. Peer correction is so
important for students to feel comfortable. Also they can know to use a
language which helps them understand themselves to overcome barriers in
learning process than the teacher.
Procedure
The teacher
wants students with their partners choose one of these words and draw it and pronounce
it three times in their own and then pronounce three times with partner
together.
